Way too much. It's been raining almost every day for over 3 weeks now. We've already had over 12 inches of rain during those 3 weeks, and there's no end in sight. Rain is in the forecast every day for as far as the forecast reaches (at least 7 days). Our normal annual rainfall here is 35 inches, and we've already had over 24 inches so far this year. We've been very lucky though, because there are areas in Texas that have had much more rain than we have, resulting in major flooding.
And NOAH is still wondering whether it's time to officially call this an El Niño event.

Most of the impulses that are causing most of the rain here are coming from the direction of CA, but maybe some of them are slipping in below CA (into Mexico).

I believe the last major El Niño event we've had was in 1997—98, after the drought of 1996. We've had a couple of false alarms last year and a year or 2 before that. But this feels like the real thing.
