Thanks Terry, I don't know why I didn't think about cooking my rice in my steamer with coconut milk...that would taste really good! I have been cooking with a good brand of olive oil, but I have lots of coconut cooking oil too, so will keep alternating them.
I am going to try my hand at bone broth this weekend, have never made it before, it sounds super simple to make too. Which ingredients would be best to stick with right now, it sounds like you can make broth with many things. I was thinking about using either a chicken or turkey bones,(I'll buy a whole poultry then I'll have meat for a couple days) can't use beef right now, and putting in celery and carrots for a little flavor with a hint of black pepper an salt or maybe just salt. I will probably need to freeze some of it, I imagine it makes quite a bit. What works best to contain this in the freezer?
I have gone just over 12 hours without having a BM...not sure if that is good or bad at this point. I've been eating at least 3 good meals during the day, maybe my gut is having a good day Maybe I have found my three safe foods
So far I am not going to take any meds...just gonna tough it out. Might not get to go anywhere this Summer but that is the breaks with this issue. I told my husband, watch out one of these days I'm gonna be a popcorn fart again!
I hope you are doing much better this Spring Terry, there are times I can't believe just how self healing people have to be with this stuff, I would never had known what I should be doing at this point if I wasn't apart of this wonderful community of MCer's.

Im much better now but still have A lot of healing to do now.
I saved my earth balance butter containers perfect size when I was feeling terrible I would take one out of the freezer and thaw it in the
micro.Pepper? Poultry seasoning would even make me sick so I only use salt.

Erica, I puchased containers just for freezing bone broth. 400-700mls is a good size for 1-2 days worth.
I would be cautious of pepper just now.
I also make mine just on meat bones and salt. No vegetables. That way I can use it for anything cooking wise. You can add things when using it for soups and stews.
The other reason I don't use vegetables in the bone broth, is that I react to soy, and many vegetables are sprayed with soy oil (even organic vegetables). And this is not declared in the shops.
Lamb shanks make great broth..
I have 'made friends' with an organic farmer at some farmers markets.... They are now keeping any poultry carcasses and the feet for me and giving them to me free of charge to make my bone broth.

I may have to grow my own carrots and a couple other veges this year
So the bone broth sounds like it is a basic foundation to other recipes. I may have to have the flu to tolerate just drinking bone broth, if it doesn't have some flavor I may not respond well to it. Well that puts a spin on ideas revolving around that.
You stay buddied up to that farmer, it sounds like a great match for you! I've raised beef in the past, and have lots of room for a garden, I just don't seem to have the prettiest garden while working full time though so it seems to shrink every year, but it looks like if I am going to need to watch what veges I'm eating so I best get to planting regardless of how it looks!

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
I did it, I made bone broth an I have to admit it tastes just fine! I put half in freezer containers an added a little carrot an celery an chicken to the other an it tastes better than any soup you can get at a store

Noticing small changes now, like getting better sleep (I've been spraying mag oil on my legs at night for the last 3 days). The BM's are around a 6, doesn't seem like much, but after having 7's for so long this is a good sign for me.

I had that symptom (and other anxiety symptoms) when I was short on magnesium (anxiety is a known symptom of magnesium deficiency). Maybe you need more magnesium while you are on a diet that excludes most of the major sources of magnesium (dark green vegetables). Most exclusion diets are low on magnesium, and that means that as time passes, we tend to use up our magnesium reserves (if we had any).

Oh Boy Tex, then I must have had an intuition because I just rec'd my Mag Oil in the mail last Friday and have just started using it, I had tried to soak my feet in Epsom nightly before bed the last few days before it arrived, but then I had just gotten over that flu thing that hit me.
Why does the mag oil when first sprayed on feel kinda prickly? It goes away after a little while, but my that feels weird. I can't seem to spray as much as I probably need on right at this moment, so I took a Mag Chelate a little over 200 mg worth along with my few sprays on my arms before work this morning, I know that isn't enough to get my body where it needs to be but I hope it starts to help pretty soon as I increase it daily. I can say it sure has helped me sleep all night long though

What does one do when they feel like they are stuck in a rut? When you don't feel like you are getting any better or any worse? I am starting to think that maybe the cold I came down with early May has transitioned into something bacterial/virus like, I don't have a fever but my tonsils are sore and my snot is green as can be first thing in the morning but turns clear by mid morning. Can viruses put a hold on healing?
Also, what does one do when they are soooo tired of following such a BLAND diet. I feel like I am losing the battle in my mind knowing I am going to be eating the same thing (turkey, rice or potato) when I am hungry again (which seems to be every 3 hours by my stomach clock). An upside to this comment is that I am enjoying my Cornish Hen bone broth that I turned into soup with celery and carrot with a touch of white rice in it. I make enough to last two weeks, eating it once a day. I have eliminated so much right now but not sure I am seeing the results I read on this forum. I guess having fairly predictable BM's morning and night has been a good change for the last month.
The magnesium Life-Flo spray morning and the Epsom foot soak nightly plus getting outside for extra Vit D have been helping with the anxiety and weird breathing problems.
What is the next thing that I get to look forward to, because I feel like I'm stuck in putty at the moment. The BM's have wavered from 6's to a couple 7's, but I am blaming this sinus thing I think on that.

Hi Erica,
It sounds as though you might have a sinus infection. Many members here have good results by using a Neti Pot for clearing the sinuses and keeping them clear. It's best used at the first signs of a problem of course, rather than after the fact, but it might still be helpful.
We have to be creative when we have a very limited diet. For example, my primary meat is pork. I eat it in the form of bacon, pan sausage, regular sausage, ribs, steak, etc. I grill it or fry it usually, but of course it could also be baked. During cooler weather I make chili or stew from it. The way you prepare foods can change the taste and texture significantly, and of course different cuts lend themselves to different preparation methods sometimes. Be creative. It's part of the fun of recovering from MC.
If you have a sinus infection that could definitely interfere with your MC recovery, and/or cause your symptoms to deteriorate. Maybe you need additional vitamin D.
