Hello
I am sort of swirling around here....with my consultant's voice saying - don't cut anything out of your diet...just reading the book with such an incredible source of information which led me straight into cutting out gluten, soya and lactose. Now my shiatsu practitioner has advised me to spend a week on a diet of brown rice and Kombu. A quick check on the internet and it seems that this might have been successful with ulcerative colititis. I KNOW I can only listen to my instincts....I KNOW....I am pretty desperate for some sort of let up of my symptoms and I KNOW I must be patient. However. Does anyone have any experience of this sort of therapy???
Thanks for your support.

My Shiatsu Practitioner has Recommed Brown rice and Komubu?
Never heard of Microscopic Colitis until yesterday when consultant advised me that my chronic, 3 month long, diarrhea indicated this diagnosis (though not confirmed). Shocked, stunned and reeling a bit, although part of me is pleased to be alive.
Hi Jude,
Your shiatsu practitioner probably has good intentions, but she or he obviously knows virtually nothing about treating MC. Brown rice and kombu are both sources of dietary fiber. Fiber is definitely contraindicated for anyone trying to recover from an MC flare. Fiber is very abrasive, and when our gut is inflamed by MC, it is very, very sensitive to such abrasion. Fiber will prevent healing, and will keep the gut irritated and inflamed.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Thanks Tex
This was my instinc after listening to your members and reading your book....but he was VERY convincing.
