Eat More Chocolate — If You're Not Sensitive To It

Post by tex »

Hi All,

A recent study in England showed that older people who eat chocolate have a lower risk of heart attack or stroke (younger people were not included in the study).
The researchers found that people who ate the most chocolate a day -- up to 3.5 ounces -- had a 14 percent lower risk of heart disease and a 23 percent lower risk of stroke than those who ate no chocolate.

The researchers then lumped the data in with nine other studies that measured chocolate consumption and heart disease. The combined pool involved nearly 158,000 people.

This analysis produced even stronger results. People who ate the most chocolate had a 29 percent reduced risk of heart disease and a 21 percent reduced risk of stroke, compared with those who ate the least. They also were 45 percent less likely to die from heart disease, heart attack or stroke.

It doesn't get much better than that.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Nice.. I was never a huge fan of chocolate b4 MC because, well there were so many other of the unhealthy snacks I'd reach for instead Now I love the 90% dark choco even. Really pairs well when I'm really naughty with the bag of mixed nuts in the freezer that consist of Pecans, macadamia, walnuts, and brazil. I have a feeling binging on those nuts is really lengthening my healing process but i really can't shake them and i really need the extra calories. then throw in the homemade flax and almond flour bread and i'm really going hog wild with fiber..

90% chocolate has replaced my craving for all desserts - yea! I eat about 4 squares (40 grams) a day. Life is good!
