colonoscopy!!!!!
Hello. I am making slow progress with diet.....but am so grateful for this forum.....not sure how I would have coped on worse days to be honest but by listening to your advice I have got down to (I thought) 6 or 7 WDs per day and feeling better. Canned tuna has set me back....which is disappointing. Anyway after 3 months I have been referred for colonoscopy.......the clear out drink is scary.........any suggestions....support would be gratefully received. I am dreading a set back.
Never heard of Microscopic Colitis until yesterday when consultant advised me that my chronic, 3 month long, diarrhea indicated this diagnosis (though not confirmed). Shocked, stunned and reeling a bit, although part of me is pleased to be alive.

Hi Jude,
I had a colonoscopy (my second) in March this year after suffering with the watery diarrhea for about five months. I had made some improvement with diet before the colonoscopy, and I didn't find that it set me back at all. Afterwards I was able to continue the simple diet and make more progress. It was very good to have the diagnosis confirmed, so I would encourage you not to worry!

Oh Thanks Betsy....that's very re-assuring and feel better already :). I have a mixture called 'Moviprep' to make up.
Good luck on your journey.

If you do the bland low residue eating plan for a week or longer beforehand, the clean out is not as intense...
Start the prep an hour or two early than time given, this way you can maybe get an hour or so rest/sleep before going to the procedure,
No matter what prep you take it is still a night on the loo!
Coconut oil on your butt is a good skin protector for the process.
Ask them to take biopsies for mast cell testing during procedure.

Jude,
The canned tuna that caused your setback may have contained soy oil. Many of us react to that.
My worst problem with most preps is nausea. The rest is just diarrhea as usual, if you have active MC.
Good luck with the prep and the exam.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
