Rosacea flare and Epsom salts
My rosacea is fairly mild and I use the RX Metrogel only if it becomes noticeable. The rosacea has gotten increasingly worse the past few months and the RX isn't helping.
Since I had to stop antihistamines, things have gone downhill a bit with other issues as well.
Not wanting to wake up one morning with a clown nose, I began looking for alternative therapies. On the People's Pharmacy website I found several suggestions. What seems to be helping the most is washing my face with Epsom salts twice a day, then calendula cream during the day and Calomine lotion at night before bed. I dissolve a tablespoon of Epsom salts in warm water and then pour it onto a damp wash cloth. Most of the redness and rough texture is abating and the calendula cream is gentle and a pretty good moisturizer. This remedy is a lot cheaper than the very expensive Metrogel and seems to be working really well.
This is working so well I want to share with others on the Board with rosacea.

Update on Epsom salts for Rosacea
I felt I had to add an update regarding treating Rosacea with Epsom salt wash and calendula cream. This regimen seemed to work for a while. The past month or two, despite continuing the regimen, my Rosacea got worse again. I gave up the fight and started using Metrogel again. This regimen may work for some people and I'm sorry I wasn't one of them.

just a Gabe pondering - if the magnesium alone is not helping, then there must be a deficiency of another key nutrient.
Vit C and Zinc are very important for skin health, and Vit D and Vit E
if it was me, i would make a paste to use topically using Vit D, Vit E, Vit C, Zinc
use some coconut oil as a base, add in the contents of some capsules ( pierce with a needle and squeeze contents out)

Thanks for the idea, Gabes. In just a few days the Metrogel is making a difference. The rosacea was really flaring, worse than ever before. I will try your formula when my nose no longer resembles a raspberry!
I've been taking mineral supplements for quite a while and just added magnesium glycinate. I'm also using a magnesium "scrub" on my face.
I'm weaning off a medication that I've taken for 8 years and that has been pretty stressful, possibly exacerbating everything else. Here in the North Carolina mountains, I've encountered allergens that are new and have been dealing with the whole nasal allergy misery. Not being able to take anti-histamine makes life uncomfortable.
Thanks again, Gabes. Be well.
