Hi Brenda,

Yes, I'm aware of that, but since I don't crave to lick any cat butts (especially wild cats :yikes: ), I was hoping that she was already potty trained. Apparently she wasn't, but we'll deal with that by lubricating her food a bit, so that eventually she will learn to follow a daily "elimination" routine without any encouragement from me. I'll start buying meat with more fat on it. Or as Deb suggested, she might accept some olive oil mixed into her meat. We'll see.

Regarding transmitters: I thought about putting a collar on her, but you know what — cats don't appreciate anyone hanging that stuff on them, so why punish them that way for our own benefit?

Yes, bobcats are unique and interesting creatures, to say the least.

It's a beautiful kitten

We see them in our Blue Mountains from time to time, they don't bother humans much, it is the Mountain lions that you have to watch your back.

With such a luxury area to call home, as it sounds, that Kit will do just fine. I'm sure it will seek out familial at some point, plus it will help with your land

I commend you for your compassion,
Hugs

Hiya Tex,

Thanks for the additional info. And for the photo - what a gorgeous little critter. If she makes it, you will have to send some update photos.

Love,

Polly

Hi Polly,

Here's a more recent photo. As she gets older, her legs are growing longer, and she's becoming more "bobcatty" ( as if there's such a word).

I've slowed down on taking photos, because she seems to be resentful of cameras, even a cellphone camera is frequently greeted with a snarl. It's beginning to appear that I may not have to worry about her becoming too domesticated.

Definitely feed fatty meats. And whatever else they eat in the wild..... I don't know what that might be; perhaps bugs, mice. Can you get live feeder mice? That might be ideal.

Hi Marcia,

I've thought about trying to catch some mice, but when you need mice, naturally they're in the low part of their cycle.

Never thought about buying them. I'll have to look into that.

Thanks,
Tex

how is the puss cat??

the other option is to put coconut oil or rice bran oil into the food.

If my dogs ever had digestion issues (generally post chewing bones) I would put oil in a syringe and given them about 30ml of oil.

Hi Gabes,

I dunno. She didn't show up for supper last night, nor breakfast his morning. I wonder if she might have managed to reunite with her mother, or moved in with another relative. There's another bobcat family (with a slightly younger kitten) living in another shed here. They're probably this kitten's aunt and cousin. I hope she didn't cross paths with a predator.

Guess who showed up for breakfast this morning? Yep. A much skinnier, but otherwise healthy-looking, extremely hungry bobcat kitten.

I hadn't given up on her yet, but my hopes were beginning to fade. I reckon she may be able to make it after all.

So true. None of us would appreciate being locked up, and we're not even wild. Imagine how a wild animal must feel when their freedom is taken away. Their stress level would have to be severe, to say the least.
