Bearcat,
I was diagnosed with LC at the end of September 2014 and put on 9 mg Budesonide right away. It did not work for me, possibly because I was very vitamin D deficient. I did Enterolab testing in November. I tested for gluten, dairy, soy, and egg. You might wonder why I did not do the more comprehensive test. Well, I was very much in denial having any food sensitivities. To my biggest surprise, Enterolab showed elevated antibodies to all four major offenders (while on the full Budesonide dose). Real improvement of symptoms happened when I went on a very bland diet of three or four safe foods for a few weeks and slowly started introducing one new food after another.
You asked in a different post how long it takes to receive the results from Enterolab. It took just a little less than three weeks for me in November. For my daughters this spring it was actually only two weeks.
Once you send off that sample you might want to switch to a very simple bland diet of very few safe foods so you can start healing as soon as possible.
Love, Patricia

Any particular brand of vitamin D3 that is better/more effective than others? GNC? Vitamin Cottage? Grocery store? I have always had a vitamin D deficiency so I need to get some to take. I'm sure it's low.

not sure how many of the other discussions / posts that you read
you may see a fair bit of discussion about magnesium. Given your situation and your Vit D level i thought you might be interested in this article
this article was one of the trigger points for me to do extensive research about magnesium

Since fixing my magnesium deficiency, I believe I am using the Vit D in my body better...
boosting your magnesium, you will cope with stress better.

Jari,
Just be careful what ever you find that it does not contain Soy, Dairy or Gluten. I thought I was taking a reputable one and after looking at it, it had Soy (probably the capsule that surrounded the D3).
I take a D3 Spray now from Mercola.com and I compliment it with a K2 capsule, made sure they were safe for me.
Cheers

In retrospect, given my test results, it makes sense why my gluten free trial was ineffective. I had replaced my dairy with almond milk and replaced my gluten snacks with almond chips. They were good.. but some of them contained milk and soy. It just so happened that almonds are one of my highest ranking sensitivities, something I would have never thought of. I have a feeling making these dietary changes now will end with much better results.

Gabes, I've been experiencing some muscle shakiness the last few weeks. It's not to the point of being a tremor but I'm definitely noticing symptoms recently. Seems to be a fairly clear sign of hypomagnesemia.Gabes-Apg wrote:bearcat

once i got onto high doses of elemental magnesium, i noticed improvement within weeks, energy increased, sleep improved, muscle strength improved, better focus and concentration ....
work up to high dose gradually, the spray/cream is awesome way to get high doses and not upset the gut.
with your diet changes and starting the magnesium, things should improve at a good rate!!
