Mars and Liz - About Losing Posts :hissyfit:

Post by tex »

I checked with one of the techies at my ISP, who is php savy, and he agreed with me that the problem of losing posts, probably lies within your browser, not the server, or the BB program. He also was unaware of a way to work around the problem, other than to switch browsers.

Hopefully, when we get the board moved to the "new" server, the issue will be moot.

Wayne

Sorry to be such a bummer but I haven't had this problem with any other site except this one. I post to numberous other boards without the problem, using the same browser but two different machines.

Thanks for checking on it!

PS: This happens when I use my mouse and click on "submit" Go figure.

Ok, which problem are you referring to--receiving a "critical error" message, losing posts with a "critical error" message, or losing posts without a "critical error" message?

Do those other sites use php language?

I think the problem only exists for php boards, and only when the server returns a "critical error" message, due to overload. Your browser is not waiting for an acknowledgment of the data transfer. Am I wrong?

P S If you don't believe it's an issue built into your browser, download Firefox, from Mozilla, and try it. Your problem will disappear.

Tex,

Don't fret about the error thingy! I can live with it, it's just frustrating sometimes.

When I hit the "submit" button I will get "critical error...unable to locate the server" or something like that.

I appreciate all of your help! Please don't worry - you do enough already without worrying about this stuff!

No problems Wayne. You can only do the best that you can with what there is.

Mars and Liz,

With the "new" server, you shouldn't have that problem any more, because you shouldn't get any more "Critical Error" messages.

If you do get any of those messages again, please let me know.
