That was interesting, Linda! I went through a period about 2 years ago during which I tried to maximize my nutrition using one of the logging services, and I was eating piles of spinach and Brussels sprouts and kale to try to get the RDA of potassium. I did this for probably six months. After reading the article I wonder all those oxalates caused or contributed to causing MC. Now I know that RDAs are not based on very complete knowledge!

Betsy,
I went on a low ox diet about 4 months ago, and it has really helped. I tested at the high end of 'normal' on my 24 hour urine test, but that was after being low ox for 6 weeks.
You can still use purple kale, romaine lettuce, collard greens and other greens that are low ox.....as well as broccoli & caulifower.
It's really worth digging into if you wonder if it could be an issue and Susuan Owens (she wrote the article) is at the forefront of knowledge on this subject.
She started a Yahoo group called, Trying Low Oxalates, that anyone can join and ask questions.
Good luck!
