So, here I am in month 10 of the diet and feeling pretty darn good! I am in a "persistent vegetative state" from April - Nov. with my large market garden and have been eating small amounts of berries and raw tomatoes - seems to be ok for me. Yes, I have aches & pains but who wouldn't doing the work I do 6 or more hours a day!
My current veggies are: cooked carrots, green beans, broccoli, summer squash, asparagus, beets (from the garden). I try small amounts of onion, garlic, tomatoes, and peppers occasionally.
But what about mushrooms? They can make dishes so much more interesting. Are other MC'ers eating them?
I would love to hear your experiences...
Chris

Hi Chris,
It's good to see that you're doing so well. I'm not a mushroom eater (never have been), but if you can eat tomatoes then you shouldn't have any problems with mushrooms. Mushrooms are classified as a high histamine food, but so are tomatoes, and not only do tomatoes contain histamine, but they are also a histamine-releasing food. So apparently you are not having histamine issues. And that suggests that you should be able to handle mushrooms.
Of course that's just a guess based on histamine, so hopefully other members will share some actual experiences involving mushrooms.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Chris,
I keep a supply of dried mushrooms around and eat some frequently. I soak them, rinse them and us them in stir fry. I haven't had any problems. I also grow tomatoes in my porch garden and eat them without any problem. At least I did last year. I'm waiting for my crop to ripen this year. I used to have histamine issues but they seem to have gone away.

Thanks, Tex and Jean.
I'm not sure that I have zero histamine issues just yet, so I'll go slow. I do take Allegra every day and continue with the 1/2 benadryl at night as it's allergy season here.
I do feel so much better, though. Thanks for all your continued support. Although I don't post much in the summer, I watch the posts frequently for valuable information.
