Top Gluten Sensitivity Doctors & Practitioners

Post by humbird753 »

Below is an article I came across which states these doctors are familiar with gluten sensitivity. I am not sure if this is truly the case, but I did notice some familiar names.

I know you have a list, Tex, so if this is only repeating what you already have, please feel free to delete this message so not to confuse anyone.

Hi Paula,

There are so many GF sites these days that it's difficult to keep up with all of them. It seems that everyone wants to get in on the action, because GF is a hot item these days, and it will probably remain that way for some time to come (until mainstream medicine updates their archaic attitudes about diet).

The information on that site appears to be accurate and reliable as far as I can tell. Scanning the list of recommended doctors, it appears that most of them are considered to be alternative practitioners — that is they tend to practice outside of the mainstream medical community, and they have been well known for advocating a GF diet for many years. They tend to be associated with a wide variety of medical specialties, and I often reference work by many of them. But that list has a glaring problem: I don't recognize any names there as belonging to a GI specialist, unfortunately, and only a GI specialist (and her or his pathologist) can diagnose MC.

That observation isn't a criticism of the website, but more of a wake up call to illustrate the wide gap between the current policies followed in the field of gastroenterology, and the actual experiences of patients in the real world. Thanks for the link.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

That makes a lot of sense, Tex. Thank you for your time.
