MC triggered by bacterial infection.. what works for u??

Post by kenvh »

Hi

I am New here and i am reading a lot here.
Very interesting stuff.

My most curious in People WHO have MC and have the Same trigger type as Me.
My MC is triggered by campylobacter!100% Sure.
SO i am hoping that People here that also have bacterial trigger as onset of MC can help Me.

I have some questions for those People WHO did get MC by bacteria..

1. What helps u the most? Does doet or meds help u? Df and gf?

2. Are u doing better now? How long did It take?

Mmmm aside from those who have medication induced mc, that when they cease the med, the mc settles down quickly, I don't think there is any major differences to the healing journey if your mc was triggered by bacteria, or the many other triggers we have seen.

As a general way of answering your question, if you read the posts in the success stories area, this will give you great info about, how they got well, and how long it took.

As people get their lives back they don't visit the board as much, so reading posts and using the search function may be a better option to seeing how others did it.

I think my MC "may" have been triggered by an infection.

I would get upset stomach and D fairly often since I was a kid so I think I may have always had sensitivities to some extent.

Fast forward to my 30th birthday vacation and it literally hit the fan. Was stuck in the bathroom, crazy stomach noises etc. I get home and 2 weeks later I'm still stuck in the bathroom and my husband takes me to the ER. They give me antibiotics and I start to feel a bit better. About half way through the course of antibiotics I get significantly worse, turns out I also had an H Pylori infection that was resistant to the original course of antibiotics.

Anyway long story, but I was eventually diagnosed with gastritis due to H Pylori as well as Collagenous Colitis. I did start to feel better with antibiotics, but the D didn't totally go away. Antibiotics did make it so that I could function again and go to work, so that's a plus. I still had to change my diet to get back to normal. It was at least 6 months before my trips to the bathroom were anywhere close to normal. It was a little over a year for all of the fatigue etc. to fully dissipate. I used to cycle competitively, and I'm only now (will be 2 years in September) back to how I was before this all started.

So I think it will take time for you to heal and you will probably have to always watch what you eat. You will get there though.

HI Ken,
After gauging myself after going thru two rounds of antibiotics the month of June I'd have to say that I feel my body was going thru a bacterial war with itself and after those rounds that's when I noticed a considerable difference in my BM's from a 7 to a 5 and my general overall feeling of wellbeing about myself. I am taking a good dose of Probiotic (Dr. Mercola.com) for a couple weeks in hopes of introducing some better flora into my gut along with the daily intro of bacteria that I subject myself to everyday. With these changes I am hoping the LC quiets down even more and my gut continues to keep healing.

I continue to stay GF, DF, SF and EggFree.

In my case it seems I had so much 'wrong' bacteria in my system I feel it allowed a yeast overgrowth, and a sinusitis infection that led to my lymph nodes becoming infected I was completely miserable and getting worse. Once I corrected the 'wrong' bacteria and knocked it back a notch or two in combination with my 'safe foods' I feel more in control of my body again. I feel as if I have cleaned some toxins out of my body at this point and are re-introducing a better way of life to my cells.

If some have aggravated their MC along the way by clearing out bacteria in their gut they may have gotten ahold of an antibody that wasn't helping deal with the right bacteria and they may react to certain antibiotics. I don't suggest taking an antibody if it is not warranted, in lots of cases it does not help. In my specific case it seems to have been what I needed at this time. When the mucus turns green it is a sure sign of bad bacteria flourishing  and that is where I ended up.

I also had an overgrowth of Candida Albicans (yeast infection) before all the sinus stuff hit me, I no longer have the cotton mouth feeling after the antibiotics and the infections are gone. Ground zero for me now and low sugar diet will help me insure I tone back the yeast issue.

I grew up moving around overseas and had traveler's diarrhea and parasites more times than I wish to remember. They definitely triggered my "IBS" years before the massive D of MC hit. That did not have a specific trigger. I've enjoyed temporary remission from the colonoscopy cleanse and taking antibiotics, so at least in my case, I think my MC is caused by an attack on a specific resident gut bacteria that I can't get rid of. Spore form probiotics are helping me.

I think mine has been triggered by a gut imbalance as I have tried cutting out foods that may caused a problem then slowing adding them back and nothing seems to make a difference but then tried the IBS probiotics and they are working. So why my body had the imbalance in the first place ???

When you talk about BMs 7 and 5, you refer to the Bristol Stool Chart?
