Day 2 of elimination diet

Post by layotte25 »

So I have started my elimination diet. I have only been eating baked plain chicken and carrots. Today is the second day. This past weekend I went a little crazy though and ate too much sugar since I knew I was going to be doing this. Bad idea!! I have not had any D but my legs are aching so bad. I am so exhausted and have no energy. I am still bloating eating chicken and carrots but not as bad. I would add in rice or potatoes to this but I seem to be dealing with SIBO also and am afraid it could mess with the results. If sugar ends up being one of my intolerances, is it okay to eat in small amounts for special occasions? Any thoughts on adding in some type of starch? I am so hungry. I'm sure the first few days of this are the worst.

Eat small serves of protein often...
Ie rather than 3 meals a day, go to 7 small serves

Detoxing sugar will cause withdrawal symptoms...

This is a major change for your body and mind. Doing guided meditations/audiobooks on healing, transformation will help calm the mind as your body adjusts to the change...

Do you have a bath, doing warm water Epsom salt bath will help draw out toxins...

If not soaking feet in Epsom salts will help.

Leanne,

Are you sure that chicken is safe? If there's any doubt, switch to turkey or lamb, or a wild meat, such as venison, rabbit, quail, pheasant, duck, goose, etc.

If you're hungry, eat larger servings. Don't stay hungry, because that can lead to cheating on the diet. Note that if you eat only meat, you will need to include some fat in your diet in order to prevent what is known as rabbit starvation.

I never had a problem with chicken before but I am so confused at this point that I don't know anymore. I have been cooking the meat with olive oil. Is that enough? Do you recommend adding anything else besides chicken with olive oil and carrots?

Try coconut oil or rice bran oil,

I react to olive oil.

:iagree:

Refined coconut oil works much better, and it is not likely to be adulterated with soy oil the way that some imported olive oil products are.

I react to coconut oil and I think I have become rice intolerant..which is one thing I want to test. It's concerning to me that I'm just as bloated eating chicken and carrots as I am anything else. My bloating really got bad after 4 months on apriso. I am starting to wonder if I can't have carrots anymore. That has always been my go to food. Or perhaps maybe it is the chicken. This just isn't working for me a at all. I don't know what to do.

Easy fix...

Broil the meat, don't fry it. Remove need for oil.

Try Turkey instead of chicken and see if there is a change...

If not, try another vegetable to gauge if it is the carrot...

Don't give up... There are work arounds...

Also, buy fattier pieces of the meat....

Other option, try lamb, this settles well for many, there are good fatty type cuts, lamb chops... You won't need oil to cook.

Strange question, the cookware you are using, what type is it?? Was it previously used to cook gluten/soy/diary items???

Yes it has. I use ceramic or non stick pans but if i am cooking on like a baking sheet I usually cover it with non stick tin foil so it's not touching the pan. Probably not much better though.

If it was me, and I wanted to ensure if chicken was ok or not, I would get new small pan, just for you.
Broil the meat, simmer in small amount of water and salt, rather than fry.

After my MC Dx I invested in new pan and saucepans, chopping boards etc to ensure there was no risk of reisdue contaminants.
Also, new utensils, that have never touched gluten, soy.

Wash separately... Do not put in dishwasher with items that have had contact with gluten/soy.

Maybe I should consider purchasing a set of cookware just for me so that way there is no chance of cross-contamination. What is the best kind? Ceramic? Stainless steel?
