Hair Coloring????

Post by jlbattin »

I noticed you mentioned hair coloring, Gabes, in another post as something to watch for triggers if you do it. I have been wondering about that. I have been coloring my hair for years. It really needs to be colored now, but I am a little hesitant to do that. I realize there are probably all kinds of toxins. But, I'm not ready to give that up yet (if I don't have to). Any of you colored your hair? Any reaction? Thanks.

Chemicals, ie hair colour, cleaning the shower, pollution. Petrol fumes etc are all known histamine/mast cell triggers.

I only get my hair coloured every 5 months or so. Mostly for Special events like weddings.
When histamine was a major issue, I would take anti-histamines to minimise the reaction on my gut. Now that I don't have histamine issues, I don't generally react

In the days before getting hair done, I stick to safe staples, ie don't have any sometimes foods. All part of the 'balance' of minimising issues...

Yes to coloring.....I try to minimize this.....i.e. my gray roots between coloring is getting longer.

Hi, Jari. I color my hair every 5 weeks and I don't have any issues with it. My hair is short so I can't stretch the time out any longer. At 55 I am not ready to be totally gray yet and I would be if I didn't color!

Yes, I color regularly-about every 6 weeks. I don't have any issues from it.

Jari
it is one of the things i mention to people as hair colouring can trigger histamine/mast cell.
and our triggers are not always food.

and like most things in MC world, one person can be totally fine with it, and another it can cause major chaos!
