Hi
I Read a lot about vitamine d deficiency and immune diseases like Ibd and interstitial cystitis (bladder inflammation).
I got Both MC and IC(bladder inflammation).
I have All Knowledge possible about IC. Just like Tex has about MC.
And i know that vitamine d helps IC bladder condition very much.
I am New with My MC disease and i am improving on diet.
The only question i have is... Is It ok To take vitamine d and magnesium?
wich vitamines are needed for handling MC?
What dose of vit d do i need??
Magnesium ok?
Vitamine c or b??
Diet is more and more bright for Me.
The only unclear thing is the supplements?[/url]

Ken,
Yes, vitamin D and magnesium work together. Magnesium is necessary for the conversion of vitamin D to the active form, and without magnesium, vitamin D cannot use calcium to build stronger bones. Almost everyone who has MC has low levels of vitamin D and magnesium. If we have been reacting for a long time (years) we eventually become low on some of the B vitamins, especially B-12.
It's best to test vitamin D levels twice a year, because our levels can vary greatly from season to season, and depending on how much sunlight we absorb in our skin. Budesonide also uses up vitamin D, and our immune system uses vitamin D to fight the inflammation caused by MC.
5,000 IU of vitamin D daily is safe for most people, as a starting dose.
Restricted diets may be low in magnesium. Many of us take 400 to 600 mg of magnesium, but I don't take more than 200 mg of magnesium citrate or oxide per day, because higher doses work as a laxative. I use chelated magnesium (magnesium glycinate) to avoid causing D. And many of us also use a spray liquid, or cream, or oil of magnesium on the skin.
Everyone has their own opinions on vitamins, because we all have different needs.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
