GI wants me to use Citrucel daily, take Uceris and PPI -but does not think food is an issue. auto-immune doc is suggesting eliminating grain, dairy, night shade vegetables, and soy, and using supplements rather than pharmaceuticals. Also had me do a blood test to see if food sensitivities are an issue;
Which way do I go? The GI found the problems - but am I better off with the slow/steady homeopathic or the big gun doctor?
Very difficult to know what to do.

Recently diagnosed w/collagenous colitis & erosive gastropathy. Sonogram & emptying test next week. Pain, nausea, feel lousy. 20 + lb gain, abdomen distended to 42". All food makes me sick. Help :(
Deciding between those 2 doctors shouldn't be difficult at all. Citrucel is contraindicated for MC. We have to minimize fiber in our diet — not take more. PPIs are a known and very common cause of MC. That should tell you how much your GI specialist knows about treating MC — apparently she or he knows virtually nothing about treating the disease.

Who is your autoimmune doc? We need to add her or his name to our list of enlightened doctors.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
