What do you think? I need to put in my order for Freeda vitamins and supplements.

Thanks.

I just found this: http://www.clevelandclinicmeded.com/med ... -medicine/ Happy to see SpectraCell mentioned.

I was taking Quercetin, along with more supplements than I care to remember. After reading my Methylation report, and with help from Gabes, I found that I have heterozygous VDR Bsm and VDR Taq. These methylation abnormalities mean I need more D3, must take both forms of B12, and avoid Quercetin.

It is very difficult to know what supplements to take when we don't have all of the information we need to make an educated choice. I'm still struggling to understand all of my methylation abnormalities.

Hi all,

Sheila says she must take "both forms of B12". As far as I've understood, there are four forms of B12; Cyanocobalamin (synthetic), hydroxycobalamin, methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin.

I take Methylcobalamin. Is it true, that if we have a methylation issue we will also need Adenosylcobalamin in addition to Methylcobalamin to have full effect?

Lilia,

This is all very complicated and I don't begin to have a good grasp of it but it depends on the mutations you have. From the report I got for myself it said that it was dependent on the COMT V158 variations and the VDR Taq. Different combinations of normal, heterozygous and homozygous determine what forms of B12 one can tolerate. But it is also dependent on just listening to your body. Methyl donors such as methyl B12 can trigger detox symptoms in some people so they cannot tolerate methyl B12 and they just figure that out based on their reaction. But I'll stop there because I fear I've already opened Pandora's Box.

Lilja,
the research and reading I did based on my methylation profile, some people do need both forms of B12,

All of the articles I read only referred to two forms, those being the two that are readily available
Cyano and methyl forms.

In line with Sheila's comment, we are all very different.
What I have leant about the methylation profile explains why one MC'er can do really well on a certain medication and another it can cause total chaos.
The same for supplements.
