Both of those appear to have a safe ingredient list. I almost always buy one that includes both glucosamine and chondroitin, but I don't look for MSM, also. For all I know the version with MSM may work even better, but I've never tried them (or if I did, I've forgotten).
One reason why I started taking it was because I got into the corn (maize) processing business, and while our food corn customers (chip and tortilla manufacturers) usually wanted bulk corn, by the semi-trailer load, all of the feed corn customers (feed stores) wanted bagged corn, stacked on pallets. And most of those stores didn't have a forklift, so I had to unload the bags manually. By the time I finished my deliveries for the day, and returned, the young guys hired to do most of the bag stacking would be tired and ready to go home, so I would stack bags for a while.
All of the older men I Knew who worked in feed mills, had worn-out knees and hips (from lifting and stacking many thousands of bags over the years), by the time they got well into middle age, and their worn-out joints were obvious whenever they did any walking. I didn't want that to happen to me, so that was another reason why I started taking glucosamine. Of course I can't say for sure that it was the glucosamine that saved my joints, but I must have done something right, because my knees and hips are still just fine, even though they should be worn out.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
