Allergy Season is here!

Post by crervin »

Guys I am having a time with itching all over. Allergy Season started 3 or 4 weeks ago. I'm eating gf, ef, sf, df! I have been eating fresh salmon once a week. Mostly rice or bpotatoe and meat. Prior to gf, I only experienced this itching mildly, and occasionally. Now allegra daily along with unisom and benadryl at night is not cutting the horrible itching no rash just whole body itching. Has anyone had any experience with this??? Going to cut out fish and sadly stay indoors! Taking vit d3 and mag oil. On the brighter side, no cramping or nausea and my roscea is gone!

Hi Martha,

Fish are a high histamine food, so the salmon might be the source of your itching. Seasonal pollen allergies magnify histamine reactions, so that could explain why a food that you could tolerate before allergy season might cause severe histamine symptoms now.

Sadly I will give up salmon and other seafood for now. I remember reading that I can take up to 4x's the dosage of antihistamines for hives. Going to try more. My husband thinks I have shingles, but this just started with allergy season and my new diet. I only experience this mildly before diet. I also notice WD and major urgency directly after eating my meat and potato, when I'm itching (which is not my usual BM).

Thank you!!

Those symptoms (including the GI symptoms) sure sound like a mast cell reaction.

You're very welcome. I hope this resolves the problems. Please keep us posted.
