Finally Back On at Home

Post by MaggieS »

Hi All,

I have had a very difficult time logging on at home and it has been fruitless.

Thank you Wayne for helping me through this and in the future all home posts will be under Maggies. Ones from work will still be MaggieRedwings.

Love, Maggie

Since you are a "new user" I thought you deserved a "new welcome"!

Glad you're back home!

Unfortunately, the system only let her post once, and then locked her out. I can't figure it out. It's almost as if the system doesn't like that particular computer.

I'm about out of ideas. Maybe it doesn't like AOL, but I thought that others were using AOL, without problems. Does AOL have a browser? Maybe she's using AOL's browser to access the board, and that's the problem. Just thinking out loud, here. Sorry if my babbling is distracting.

Puzzled,
Wayne

I also use AOL without problems. My next suggestion would be to uninstall her browser and reinstall it.

I found that worked with me once. There could also be an update at home that needs attended to.

Just another thought.

Mars,

I knew you used AOL as an ISP, but I thought you used IE through a TCP/IP connection, reather than using AOLs built in browser. Are you using their built in browser? Are you using the current version of AOL, whatever that is?

Thanks,
Wayne

I am currently (home) using AOL 9.0 Security Edition SE.

At work I use IE.

Hope that helps.

Hi All,

Mars thanks for that new welcome. LOL

Well I was lucky to get one post.
I am using the same version AOL as Mars and never had such a problem before.

Tex - not to worry. I can correspond during the week and if I was doing everything I should during the weekend then I would never get on anyway. I would be baffled at uninstalling and then reinstalling the browser but if someone gives me directions I can sure follow them.

Love and thanks to all, Maggie

Hi Maggie,

Before we try uninstalling and reinstalling anything, try this--it's simple and easy.

After you log onto AOL, minimuze the window, (but don't close it, because you need to keep the connection open). If you are using a Windows operating system, surely you have Inernet Express installed on your computer, (in fact, you should have an IE icon on your desktop, or in the system tray). Click on the IE icon, to open Internet Express. Then, just use that browser to locate the board, and you should be able to post to your hear'ts content.

Finding the board will be the hard part. LOL. Searching the web for perskyfarms.com will probably work better than anything else. Or, use this URL:

http://www.perskyfarms.com/phpBB2/index.php

This will allow you to use a different browser, while still using AOL as an ISP. Or, you can download some other browser, such as Firefox, and use it the same way.

Love,
Wayne

Morning Wayne,

Will give that a try. When it comes to computers I am a wiz at spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, research but finding my way around the inner workings will be a challenge.

Will try tomorrow if I can. Also have to do TurboTax too.

Thanks, Maggie
