Hello PP Family and welcome to newbies
have been offline past couple of weeks due to
a) change of workplace -
b) moved house!!
despite my best plans, these two events ended up happening in the same fortnight... so it has been a full on couple of weeks
I am 90% moved (this is move 36 for me!!) I have been carefully pacing myself, and was thankful for lots of precooked stews etc in the freezer
it will take me another month to get unpacked/organised
I have been very fortunate to find a 1 bedroom 'Granny Flat' which in Aus is a self contained flat either linked or near a main house. Mine is part of a rural property, surrounded by horses, cows, sheep, chooks, and loads of native birds
my landlord has already shared some eggs with me, and lambshanks from his self raised lambs.
Yesterday I made 12 litres of Lamb/Chicken bone broth!! (over 3 Gallons)
and Ben the Labrador made the most of the bones...
today I made lamb and vege stew with the meat etc...
To have my own 'Gabe Cave' again is awesome..
to be in a quiet rural environment with lots of photography subjects in my front and back yard is also awesome
the slight downfall of all this awesomeness, is the unreliable mobile network and very slow internet that 'drops out' every 5 minutes or so,
some of my replies today took 3-4 attempts...
(keep in mind that Australian large cities are 5 years behind the USA with internet technology/bandwith - so being in a rural area is almost like being on old school dial up internet!!)
I am doing my best to catch up on posts and provide contributions -
kinda back online!

Hey Gabes!
It's good to see you posting again. I was afraid that something bad might have happened. Wow! 36 moves is an impressive amount of work. You probably have more moving experience than some of the nomadic hunter-gatherer tribes back in paleo times.
I certainly agree that the awesomeness of living in a rural area is usually offset by communication and Internet limitations. If I didn't use a parabolic antenna (thanks to Joe) to pick up weak data signals from a broadband mobile data service, I would be stuck with a dialup Internet connection, also. It seems that in rural areas, even here in the U. S., no effort is being made to improve Internet service. Around here, all of the options are still relatively slow, mostly unreliable, and way overpriced.
But IMO there is nothing more relaxing than having all the wonders of nature, right outside one's door.
Enjoy!

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Gabes,
I so wished I could spend a month in your area. I paid $25 for 1lb of lamb chops a couple of weeks ago and it took 3 trips to various groceries to find them.
I live in "Gig City", so needless to say I have technology in every room of my house. My husband is an Electrical Engineer and works in Telecommunications at a Power Company. He would have a TV in the bathroom if I would let him.
So glad you are back and hope you get settled soon!
