Well, I didn't bother to read past the first line, because the first line in the article is incorrect. LC is definitely not a rare disease, by any stretch of the imagination. It's at least as common as Crohn's and much more common than celiac disease.

After reading the first line, I scanned a line or 2 here and there, and it appears that the article was written by someone who hasn't updated his or her knowledge of the disease in a decade or so. If you want to read some accurate and up-to-date information about LC, look here:

http://www.microscopiccolitisfoundation.org/

And sign up for the newsletter. The first issue will be published soon. You can also download a fact sheet about MC there, if you wish.

I am very impressed with the Microscopic Colitis Foundation site thus far. Great work to all who contributed.

Tex, you need to do some more tooting of this Foundation's horn! This is totally news to me, and I don't think I'm much of an ostrich!

Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Thanks. Beverly, I suppose you're right. I've been waiting for an approval of an application for a Google Ad Word Grant for nonprofits, before promoting the site, but Goggle seems to be slow with their approvals.

thats a very good site! im glad to have a good reference now. Friday I go in for my upper endoscopy; kinda worried about it. I had one done in college and woke up part way thru gagging and struggling. Will not be a good day I think. My family doctor is trying to get me in at UAB in Birmingham...I think they can help much more then my GI who says LC just D and the other issues aren't associated.

Your doctor is probably right — it sounds as though your current GI specialist is confused and lost.
