Vitamin patch….. ?

Post by C.U.B. girl »

Has anyone used a multi-vitamin trans-dermal patch before? I'm considering ordering some, since very little is being absorbed through my gut these days. Just wondering if there is a brand that would be recommended, or whether they seemed to help at all. I don't want to waste anymore $$ on oral supplements that are only going to go right through me, or cause things to get worse than they already are…..

Did you ever use the patch and, if so, did it work for you? I have been wearing a vitamin D3 patch for about 1 1/2 months, but haven't had a blood test to see if it is working.

I ordered a multi-vitamin patch from Patch MD and used it for about three months while going through a flare. I didn't have my levels checked during that time; mostly I think it gave me some peace of mind that I wasn't going to simply waste away during the flare! When I ordered the patch, they also sent -- free of charge -- 30 days of melatonin patches, and 30 days of B vitamin patches. The melatonin patches worked great, so based on that, I'm assuming I was also absorbing the vitamins through the other patches as well.

The dosage per multi-vitamin patch is minimal --- about the US RDA (which is abysmal) -- so if you want to up your dosage, you'd have to wear more than one patch per day. Which gets pricey, since, when you include shipping, each patch will run about $1…

Best of luck to you!

I'm curious to find if there is other ways to get vitamins that we can't absorb BESIDES patches. I've an adhesive allergy that is off the charts. Sprays? Self-injected?

Let me know if you find out there are other ways to get vitamins. Here in the San Francisco Bay Area we have "Happy Hours" where docs give vitamin B-12 shots, some also have vitamin B12 shots. I guess people are flocking to these happy hours from what I hear.

Sublingual forms of vitamins (designed to be dissolved under the tongue) are just as effective as injections, and much cheaper and much more convenient than injected forms.

Unfortunately, I can't tolerate any vitamins by mouth.

I see there is a B12 nasal spray, I may look into that one. I'm wondering if this will work for low magnesium? http://www.bodydetox.co.za/health-and-w ... ml-details

Magnesium would very likely burn your nasal passages, but that's just a guess.
