I'm definitely going to go med free, am tapering off this week (I wasn't on a very large dose anyway). I made a post about A-Ma-Ta natural hormone help by Dr. Northrup and inquired about all the ingredients. I learned it should be a safe aide for me when I am ready for it. I am going to see where my body stands in the way of natural means first.
For someone who does not drink, smoke, take unnecessary meds and tries to eat healthy and be as normal as possible it is simply hard to understand why the information about Vit D3, Mag and B Vit, isn't such an important topic in all Dr. offices around the world. The busier I have become the sicker I have made myself.
I keep looking forward though, a balance of everything has to take effect sooner or later
Thanks Tex and Gabes

There is no motivation too....
While ever big pharma can make mega profits from sales of medications to 'bandaid' symptoms, the system won't be pro active about nutritional imbalances.
Albeit, the system is changing, the demand from consumers towards treat root cause, look for natural solution is happening, it is slow.
(Just like the acceptance of diet to manage IBD's )
Once a doctor completes university, the only compulsory ongoing training is provided by 'Big Pharma'
Only doctors interested in wholistic/functional approach will attend training seminars regarding key nutrient items/methylation etc
And with the demands on the medical system most doctors do not have the time to research these things.
It's not the doctors fault, it is the system. While ever big pharma has so much control on our health systems, things will not change... Governments are too dependant on big pharma monetary inputs into the health system to change it.

Pretty sure it was a reaction to Soy....
Was invited by well meaning friends to have a Sunday brunch with them and they even asked what I could have. They made corn on the cob, steamed white rice, and smoked turkey. The brine on the turkey had Worcestershire sauce in it (Soybean galore), this happened after about 4 hours from eating, and I inquired about it this morning after I had two baseball size histamine reactions on my buttocks.
Who gets welts on their Ars!! from Soy My husband has been worried about me at work all day, he's called me twice from his work already.
I took a Benedryl last night just because, not sure why really, but glad I did, it's not my normal routine. It has been 24 hours since the meal and the histamine has dissipated to a tolerable level. Sure made it interesting to sit while at work today.
I take it from this reaction I can not tolerate much soy at all, so from here on out I will be able to gauge reactions like this and hopefully trace it to this particular intolerant. I have not tried to eat anything else on the 'do not eat list' to check for this kind of reaction, kinda afraid to at the moment. I suppose quantity is a factor too, as I did ingest a nice portion of smoked turkey yesterday. My body didn't give me any warning that I wasn't going to feel bad, I didn't even get any D out of the deal. In fact since I have weaned off the hormones last week I have had a 5 yesterday and a 5 today.
Since the reaction is tapering off that must be a good sign too.

My body hates me righ now. I either tapered to quick off the hormones or the Soy really took a toll on me. The day after the welt reaction I got a migraine that I could not control with my med, was nauseous, had three WD bathroom trips before midnight with chills an sweating. Boy what a night. I feel off this morning, but managed some Gf toast an cashew milk.
Sure get tired of my body having so many ups an downs.
Have a good day everyone.

Hi Erica,
I'm sorry to read that you had such a severe reaction. The reaction may have been influenced by several factors, but there is a good chance that hormones played a significant role. That said, quite a few members here have pointed out that they seem to react more severely to soy than they do to gluten.
I hope that you can get back on track with your recovery today.
Hugs,
Tex

Thank you Tex,
That is good info to know. Didn't realize soy was so harming, but that coupled with the hormone changes I probably just went thru a hefty detox. My husband was pretty concerned about it this morning, he must sleep like a bear because he didn't realize I had such a tumulus night. I told him it had to be the combo of Soy reaction and hormone depletion, and my body just went into a huge fit about it.
I took one more migraine pill this morning with my toast because I needed to be able to go to work today. I think about all my ails during my age right now and wish there was a pause button on needing to work so I could let myself heal properly before carrying on with life. Sure is a catch 22 isn't it.
Hugs

Erica,
I hope you are feeling better. This disease is sure a "Hang on for the ride!" kind of a disease. You really never seem to know what's coming next. You're dealing with hormones; I'm dealing with low blood pressure. If it's not one thing, it's something else.
I saw you mention toast. What kind/brand are you eating? I'm pretty sure you are gluten, soy, and dairy free (but I didn't go back to check), but remembering some of your other posts. What about egg? Just curious, because I think of all the things I miss, I'm missing bread the most.........go figure!

Thanks Jari,
There is a local bakery GF, DF, SF, EggF called Fine-Ly Made in College Place, Wa, it is a god send because if it weren't for the toast I probably wouldn't have eaten this morning, nothing was appealing. I would love to try an egg, but at this rate I best not tempt fate with all the restrictions I have put on my body. My cells are probably in an all out war figuring out what they should be doing right now.
My med I took this morning seems to be holding off any pain, I can function at least and I think an appetite is trying come around. It might be another 10 hour bed curfew for me tonight.
Hugs,
Erica

Well, it has been two weeks since I have made any kind of update.
I am thinking no news is good news
I have to say those hormones were the last 'niggle' to keep me from having constant 5's for the last couple weeks now, and starting this third week I am doing even better. Predictable bathroom trips, nice formed BM's in the morning albeit it isn't a snake they are formed and lots of them, no extra bile, and no urgency to evacuate in the morning, just normal 'need to use the restroom' kinda feeling.
Been the most longest haul of 4 months I have ever been on and to know I can feel better has helped in my attitude moving forward in the months and years to come. It will never be a Perfect day with this MC, but I think I can tolerate myself now. Thank you Dear Family of this Board, for Everything and I mean Everything, without your guiding hands and patience this would have been even more of a struggle. I appreciate each and everyone of you.
Next thing to deal with is natural hormones and their decline and how my body reacts to it all. Had an Eye Aura yesterday, but did not get a migraine to go with it, I noticed I started tapering off the hormones August 23rd so it has almost been a month of no extra hormones and that Aura is telling me that my body is coming upon a virtual cycle because my Estrogen is lower than it can deal with. Crossing my fingers it does not trigger a migraine in the coming days.
Lets keep hoping for brighter days ahead for everyone, Hugs

keep reminding yourself - its about progress... not perfection.
you have achieved ALOT in the 6 months you have been here!! your tenacity and diligence is paying off!
there will be hiccups/bad days along the way, albeit their frequency reduces over time...
listen to your body, rest and nurture when required.
hugs back at you!

Well I must have stepped over my own boundary over the weekend. Was doing very well until Sunday evening when I thought I'd try some of my home made sweet pickle chips - it's the only thing I can think of that would have made me react and my ear lobes puff up to the point they hurt and ended up taking 2-3 rounds of benedryl all day yesterday.
At least it didn't spark any D, but the systemic reaction was crazy, I still have a slight itching sensation on my left ear lobe today and my joints don't feel nearly as compromised as they were yesterday.
High Histamine? That seems to be my biggest trigger at the moment! Those pickles were probably the highest histamine I've eaten lately, I seem to recall I had a few in July and did not have this reaction. I am thinking my system is getting to the point it doesn't have much to react to so it is looking for anything at this point.
On a good note I am still having constant 5 BM's and enough so I have to push some of them YAY!! This is an incredible moment for me I have really worked on the stress level in my home, my surroundings, finances you name it. I've even gotten creative again I bought some colored pencils and printed off some designs to color while vegging in front of the TV at night. I haven't done that since I was raising my kids! I also machined sewed some 6" Christmas trees and put bling on them for a future Christmas get together in December (yes I like to do some things ahead of time).
To any Newbie reading this....there seems to be moments when we will never feel normal, and then there will moments when we feel as normal as it gets and have a slight set back such as this Histamine thing that hit me. I feel positive the days ahead will be better with some glitches. Stay the course...forge ahead and be brave!

The odd things this MC makes our bodies feel at times are incredible!
Never would I have really truly understood when you and many other said that eating only a few things are fine with us without having to have gone thru this experience. It's nice not having cravings....I don't crave chocolate and I ate that stuff all the time, in everything. Half the time now I just "think" I crave something (I think it is the old brain waves butting in).
It will be nice when I really truly get to know my body after all the screeches, jerks and crazy rides it has given me.
Having a grateful moment here

Hi,
Welcome to the discussion board. Yes, many satellite issues turn out to fade away after we get our MC symptoms under control.
15 years ago, I had arthritis so bad in my knees that I had to use a cane to get around, and some of my finger joints were inflamed and the fingers were growing crooked and twisted. That all stopped after I changed my diet and my gut healed.
Again, welcome aboard, and please feel free to ask anything.
