Frustrated sweet tooth
Hi all! I'm looking for snack ideas....walking in a grocery store is depressing...I want safe sweets. Thx
I don't eat them often, but Enjoy Life makes a crunchy chocolate chip cookie that is very good. They're free of the top 8 allergens. My local grocery store carries them and if not, you can find them on Vitacost. I also have one square of a Lindt 90% chocolate bar with a cup of tea and that works for me. Enjoy Life also makes chocolate chips that are gluten, dairy and soy free. Plantain chips are good and you can get them plain or sweet. I like them but they make my stomach bloat so I stay away from them.

I found The candy Hot Tamales a few every once in a while work for me. I also found a malt free choc rice crispy cereal called Magagascar Penguins (yes it's a kids cereal but safe for me). My only other splurge is a mini mtn dew.

I like the Coconut Bliss ice cream. It is dairy free, gluten free, soy free, and egg free. I love the naked coconut one and the dark chocolate is pretty good also. It was a little chocolatey for me though (I guess I noticed it since I hadn't had any for so long), so I generally stick to the naked coconut one. It's very good.

Tex once wrote that if we have a chocolate craving, we would almost definitely be magnesium deficient. Since I increased my magnesium intake, I have no "sweet tooth" any more.
You should try it, not only will the sweet tooth go away, but your digestion will improve at the same time.

I agree that magnesium seems to have curbed my sugar cravings. That being said, I typically have a HUGE sweet tooth, so I can certainly feel your pain. Can you tolerate coconut? Sometimes just a bit of coconut water (which is naturally a little sweet) is a nice treat. Or maybe some coconut milk with honey and cinnamon over applesauce? I love, love, LOVE manuka honey, but it's very expensive. It has a number of healing properties (including being antimicrobial) and is thick and rich, like a butter. The flavor is excellent. I've been known to eat teeny-tiny bits of it off a spoon in lieu of candy. ;-) Not too much, though, as any sugar in high amounts is a problem. I typically also do okay with bananas. And even some other fruits, as long as they're blended up really well. Good luck!

these are great ideas. Im kinda looking for something i can just grab like reese pieces or gummy bears? anything that is premade and i can get anywhere. I've always had a sweet tooth, just looking for snacks that are safe.
i dont think i can have dairy; so does that mean the milk chocolate is a no no? or is it processed enough to be safe?

I doubt you'd be able to tolerate milk chocolate, alas. :( Although, I guess you could try it and see... Do you have a health food store in your area? My local one usually carries hard candy that's made with honey and fruit juice. Not something you'd want to binge on, but perhaps okay for an occasional grab-and-go treat. Halloween season is always so hard, haha.

There aren't any candy products (that you would normally find at the check out) that are gluten free, dairy free, soy free, and egg free. Milk chocolate (the kind you are referring to) has dairy in it, and I'm guessing gluten and soy also.
Enjoy Life has some chocolate that's not bad, and I do Ok with it. I can get it at my grocery store. http://enjoylifefoods.com/our-foods/chocolate-bars/

Enjoy life has some chocolate chips that most can tolerate. Put the enjoy life chocolate chips in a ziplock bag and snack on them. You have to ask around to find these at your grocery. Your health food store will carry.
Early on too much sugar can slow healing. I can not tolerate werthers originals and cannot tolerate Canada mints. I react to both. I do ok with one starlight mint. I've done ok with the all natural cough drops that are kind of like candy. Can't remember the brand.

Also hard Cinnamon candies are an easy safe treat, just read the ingredients though. I think I looked at two different pkgs and one I couldn't have.
A person just needs to look at all the labels in the hard candy aisle...most though have dairy and soy in them....boo.
