"underwear" coverage for MC women
Hi all! Newbie here. Diagnosed with CC last month. On Lialda now for 4 weeks and really see no change. Bought Tex's book and will start elimination diet. Am traveling by plane next week and really scared as it is a very early morning flight. Do any women out there have ideas on underwear coverage? I have wear Depends all day, every day and still have "overflow" issues. I am afraid of soiling myself in flight, in friend's home. D still very watery.
Any input or resource is greatly appreciated!

Hi Dee,
Welcome to our Internet family. I agree with Martha and Lilia, Imodium (without lactose) is the optimal choice for safely slowing down diarrhea. If it's not sufficient, the addition of a pad to the Depends might be helpful to increase absorbancy.
Since you have already been using Lianda for a month, if diet changes don't bring an improvement within a couple of weeks, it's possible that the active ingredient in Lialda (mesalamine) may just be making your symptoms worse. This typically happens for those of us who are sensitive to NSAIDs. If you could get a prescription for Entocort (budesonide) from your doctor ASAP, it would almost surely be much more effective than the Lialda. Mesalamine is usually not the best medication option for treating CC (in most cases). It works for some patients, but it can also be slow to work in some cases. Budesonide works much faster and much more effectively.
Again, welcome aboard, and please feel free to ask anything.
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Dee,
Welcome...
I did a fair bit of air travel in my early days of MC. My travel outfits were swing tops/tunics that were long. To cover up my padded butt.
The main thing, don't overthink it /get stressed. As stress is one of worst enemies.
Get some podcasts/audio books/guided meditation type things, trust your body, enjoy the trip.

I like to travel in a long, loose skirt. That covers up the padded butt, and also allows easier changing of underwear during travel.
I don't know where you're traveling, Dee, but if you're going through Tokyo, the airport bathrooms are wonderful. Music, bidets with heated water....it's like an MCer's paradise.
