Rearranging the Forums on the Inex Page

Post by tex »

Hi All,

I hope you will bear with me, as I continue to fumble around rearranging the forums, trying to find the most logical arrangement, in preparation for the day when we will have newbies trying to navigate this site. The latest layout is based on suggestions from the moderators, and other members, especially Mars, (plus some of my own ideas, of course).

Obviously, since we are such a diverse group, it's impossible to settle on a layout that's ideal for everyone, but I think we're getting closer to a workable arrangement.

I wish I could come up with a magical name for this discussion forum, so that everyone could easily find it. You'll notice that I've changed the name from "Message Board" to "Main Message Board", trying to make it more conspicuous. If anyone has a better idea for the name, please let me know.

Hi Tex,

I don't know of a better name for this forum, but thank you for all your work. I love the smilies, do you have any birds, other than the stork? There are so many bird lovers here. I have a parrot, and I feed the outside birds and love to look at them. My grandkids call me, G'ma P the "bird lady"

Hi Tex,

Do you want to be called Tex, or Wayne? :???:

I wanted to ask you to look at my new link to information about sulfites in the "Links to Information Site". (the one that has an address about 15 lines long!) Is that ok, or normal? I tried it, and it gets me where I want to go, but Geez!

What about "The Potty Party - And Other Every Day Discussions"?

Okay, just thinking off the top of my head here....maybe you guys can do something better with that.

Marsha,

The link is indeed ridiculously long, but it seems to work fine.

You can call me whatever you want--I'll answer to just about anything.

Dear :cowboy: , I have another question: are both forms of email equally private? I'm comparing sending someone on this site a personal message, versus clicking on their profile and using their email address.

Marsha,

As far as I know, the PMs are more secure, since a recipient can only read them by logging on to the board. Personally, mine seem to arrive faster than e-mails, though I'm not sure if that's always the case.

The e-mails go by conventional e-mail routing, not through the board. This board has it's own e-mail system built in, which functions like regular e-mail, for anyone who does not have a regular e-mail account already set up, but I have that feature turned off, since I assume that everyone here already has e-mail services available to them.

Morning Barbara,

You are not alone in floundering. Once I get here I have no problem it is just getting here. I keep getting knocked back to sign on each time and then it finally accepts me. I am sure that will work itself out.

In the meantime, we will be foundering fillies.

Love, Lady M
