The best bread!!
For all of you who live in the San Francisco/Oakland area and haven't tried the Mariposa Bakery you don't know what you are missing. We were out there last week and I had one of their sandwiches, a couple of muffins and a cinnamon roll. I can't even describe how good everything was. It's probably a good thing I don't live out there. They also have mail order, but it is so expensive. It would cost me around $18.00 for a loaf of bread. I am hoping when my grandson comes out he will bring me something.
Just wanted to share with all those who live in that area.

I'm headed to SF. This company list the ingredients of their breads on their website. Excellent to save us time and disappointment. I am unable to eat tapioca, eggs, or xanthan gum so their on-line disclosure saved me a trip. Being that they specialize in GF, their breads may actually be GF!. Nice find!
Hi Nancy. Funny you should say that... I just drove up there yesterday ( it's only 20 minutes away) to pick up my stash! I usually buy three loaves and freeze them. You are right, it is the best by far! I also love their molasses cookies. For anyone who is looking for it, it's in the Ferry Building on the Embarcadero.

I was working in San Francisco last week and on my afternoon off I walked from the financial district to the Ferry Building on the Embarcadero and went to Mariposa Bakery. It was a hot day and kind of a long walk. I had 1 molasses cookie and one ginger biscotti. The bear claw looked VERY GOOD but I obstained from that.
I love my fellow MCers and thanks for the referral!
I ate dinner here: http://www.kokkari.com/home/ and here: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_R ... ornia.html. I had no problems at either place. The first served rustic greek and I had tons of choices. The second was rustic Italian. Menu was a little more limited here but still no problems. Both were finer dining price points. You could get dinner and veggies at both for about $25.00 on the low side and more for the expensive proteins.
We have no such thing as finer dining in my home town....all chains. I think I need to go to the big city once a year and eat finer dining in the big city as eating out in my hometown is problematic.

I would just like to share that there are fabulous, totally GF bakeries in two places I've been in CA. One is on Larchmont Blvd. in LA, and the other is on State St. in downtown Santa Barbara.
A funny story about the one on Larchmont Blvd is that my daughter ordered a birthday cake for my little granddaughter there, totally not realizing that it was a GF place. And everyone at the birthday party raved about the cake.
