Windmill meeting

There's a meeting today at the community center regarding placing windmills in this area. I am going to see what it's al about. The fella that leases our patyres told us abpout it last night. All the farmers in this area are going. They say that payment of a pretty good size per month will be offered to those who's land they put windmills on. Of course with permission of owner. I want to see what it's all about. Hope everyone has a great day. Tomorrow I am going with SIL to garage sales. Her hubby and mine are going to the deer lease to dis-mantle it. The guy lost the lease. He's a lazy man that depends on his friends to do his work....I guess you can tell I don't like the man and dis-approve of hubby going. I guess it's a guy thing (excuse me wayne and mathew) but they would rather go there and work then to take us out to dinner or spend quaility time. This guys health is in bad shape because he won't get off his duff and do anything, his wife does it all. Shame on her. Anyway in spite of that I am still in good spirits....Hope your day is good. I hope the lazy man you're talking about is not your BIL. I assume you're talking about a "rancher", who was subleasing the hunting rights to your BIL and Mike.

You're right about the guy thing. Most men, (in Texas, anyway), would rather go to a hunting lease, and virtually work their butts off all day, than to stay home and attend a party as special guests of the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. Well, maybe that's a slight exageration, but you get the idea.

Being a part of a windmill farm would be interesting. There's one big advantage to a windmill farm--during a drought, when water is scarce, and nothing will grow, the wind usually blows that much harder, so those windmills will keep right on producing.

And, of course, it's an environmentally friendly method of energy production. I hope your site can qualify.

I'm learning all about you weird Texans! This morning I got an email from a friend who is in grad school at Texas (U of ?...in Austin I think), who commented she was at happy hour discussing soil classification! Of course she was with a couple geotechnical engineers...but still!

Wind power is cool. My grandfather had a windmill on his "farm" (it was his retirement home, but had been a working dairy in its earlier life). Every time the wind blew for too long, the thing would break, but it would usually last long enough to charge up the battery he ran his reading light from! He was an electrical engineer by trade. Some people are very opposed to windmills, but I think they can look quite beautiful. the big farms of them are usually quite sleek. Maybe thats the engineer in me. A large wind farm project here in Vermont is on hold again (I think) because too many people think its an eyesore. Of course they think the same of cell towers so they cover the towers with artificial pine bows. problem is they stand so much taller than the surrounding trees, that its really obvious they are fake, which I think makes them even more of an eyesore!

I think the big windmills are a great way to create electricity, and we've seen "wind farms" all over the world. You have to make sure they aren't in a flyway for birds though, or there would be a lot of feathers scattered around. Also I guess they are a little bit noisy. Whooosh, whooosh, whooosh.

There were alot of my nieghbors there and we are all signing up. We have a lawyer firm representing us ( a good One) and all looks good. There are more than one wondmill firm looking at our area. There's already one or more counties that have a project going. We named spokes-people and Project Name. Now we just have to get some more farmers interested and we stand a good chance. I think it's a better way for electricity production and alot cleaner. It was a good meeting.
TEX You are soooo right...Texas men would rather work thier butts off than spend quaility time .....now party...if there's free beer or whiskey, they'll be there.....Dallas cheerleaders....probably. Mention Beer.hunting....tools...or S--X and it is a definate date. That's men....but ah....we love them . Love Oma

I love the windmill sites I've seen on either TV or in the news. I've never seen one in person but would love to. I think they are awesome! Good luck in your research and future project!
