I know, I thought those were two of the most universally non-allergenic foods a person could consume! Haha. My guess is that the reaction is probably not terrible, as it didn't appear until after a "late reading" was done. And it didn't technically even show up on the initial scratch test- they had to do two rounds of injections before ANY of my allergies became apparent (even the environmental ones). Hopefully that means I don't a huge problem with mast cells.

Farm-raised turkey, duck, goose, pheasant, quail, rabbit, venison, etc., has the same DNA (and therefore the same protein molecular structure) as the wild versions of those animals. Also remember that foods that cannot be found locally can almost always be ordered online, and some members here use that option.
I just meant that I don't think any of my local supermarkets carry even the farm raised versions of those meats, but I could be wrong. Whole Foods may have some options, or at least be able to order stuff for me. Good to know I can order meats direct, as well! I'd never thought about doing that. Anyone have recommendations for a good supplier?

as we process these types of events in our lives, I like to watch the you tube clip of the Steve Jobs 'Dots' speech...

right now things dont make alot of sense, we can be a bit overwhelmed by the challenge, and question why me, etc

that speech is a great reminder that we dont always know the why, and much later in life as we reflect on these events the dots (being the events) connect, and start to make sense...

we have to have blind faith, this is our journey, it takes way too much energy to fight it, so embrace it, nurture it and go with the flow of it...
There is a grieving process, as you let go of what was, and embrace what is....

Lucy,

Your description of the testing does sound as though you may be exempt from any unusual mast cell activation disorder issues. That would certainly be nice, because you certainly don't need any extra complications on top of an already very restricted diet.

Sometimes Farmer's Markets carry meat options that can't be found in stores, if you happen to have one in the area.

There are lots of places online that sell meat. You have to be prepared to spend more than you do on supermarket meat but in general you get better quality. Here are a few that have less common meats:

https://www.steaksandgame.com/
http://shafferfarms.com/
http://www.brokenarrowranch.com/

I usually stick to ground meat because it is the least expensive.

Two places with more common meats, but that includes lamb and turkey, are

http://www.texasgrassfedbeef.com/
http://grasslandbeef.com/

If you're interested in duck I recently found this place:

http://www.farmfreshduck.com/

How long did it take you to start feeling better after going on the diet? And were you very strict with it? I'm about to start LDN, as well. I hear that can help minimize food reactions, which would be a huge blessing. We shall see...
I was fortunate in that just giving up gluten provided pretty quick results for me. I was doing pretty well within a few months but it probably took a year or two before energy levels, etc. returned. I have been using LDN but mostly for Hashimotos.

Lucy,

So sorry to hear these results! Just to add something else, make sure you check ingredients of all meds. They sneak in on you and you don't realize it's the meds causing problems instead of your food. Try to order vegan meds if it's possible. It's takes about 2 months to get over the shock of how your "healthy body" and "healthy lifestyle" failed you. I'm starting month 4. You will be in my thoughts and prayers!

Thanks so much, everyone! I so appreciate the words of encouragement and advice. :grouphug: I can honestly say that I'm already seeing a lot of improvement just having strictly eliminated gluten for the past couple of months. Yesterday and the day before, I had only one bathroom trip per day, and they were both normans. WHOO HOO! Also had a norman this morning. It's the first time this has happened since February (haha, hopefully I won't jinx myself by talking about it). Anyway, I know I have a lot of work to do, and I will get there. I've got way more issues than just gluten, for sure. But it's nice to think that getting rid of gluten has had such a positive impact so far. Things can only get better, right? ;)
