when you next have a bad day
the next time you are having a bad day, and may have to contemplate wearing a diaper or you are spending your morning doing your meal planning and cook up to survive the week - keep this in mind
we are not the only ones...
when astronaughts do space walks, they wear diapers
they put alot of planning into what they eat for the 30 hours or so before a space walk to minimise poop situations
I have been reading the Chris Hadfield book 'An Astronauts guide to life' (you dont have to be into space or astronauts to enjoy this book)
For anyone looking for the faith and courage to face challenges, to learn what being prepared means, achieve a goal, this is a bl**dy good book, easy read tone, great humour.
He learnt how to neutralise fear, how to stay focussed, and how to succeed - it is a matter of changing your perspective

Gabes,
It never occurred to me how much we have in common with astronauts, but I reckon you are right on target, as usual.
That book brings to mind an idea for another book. I wonder if there would be a market for a book titled, How to Tell The Difference Between An Astronaut and an MC Patient.
Naw, I reckon not.
But seriously, you're right on target — accepting the challenges of this disease, and learning to live with it is on the same scale of difficulty as learning to be an astronaut. Both are definitely challenging and life-changing.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Chris Hadfield was in Australia earlier this year, and i heard some of his interviews, since then I have tracked down via podcasts etc and listened to many of his interviews
the book is awesome and there are ALOT of similarities about living with MC and becoming an astronaut...
there are days we do need to sweat the small stuff, prepare and risk manage. prepare for multiple scenerios, but in doing so we have to trust our planning.
my reaction when I read about him wearing a diaper for the space walk was - we are not the only ones!!
very dignified people wear them as part of 'doing their job' there is no shame....

Thanks Gabes.......
I'll take a look, especially as it involves a bit of humour.
I currently don't need any motivation, beyound my recent MC flare, to keep me committed to my limited diet. This is the first time in my life my resolve to stick to a diet has been this strong and unshakeable.
I don't do this anymore while cooking and preparing food!

Gabes ~ I have to admit when I read this it gave me a chuckle. It is known here that astronauts wear dippers when they have bad days! In America around a decade ago there was a notorious incident that happened between astronauts. Apparently, I believe the story goes, it made national news headlines around 10 years ago, a female astronaut was having an affair with another astronaut. Well, the love soured at one point and the female space flyer became enraged. In a fit she hopped into her car and I believe it was drove from Texas to Florida without stopping, with no bathroom breaks. As was widely reported she was wearing a dipper. She hunted down I believe it was the new girlfriend and began harassing and looking to kidnap her. Thankfully no one was hurt, the astronaut was arrest, and happily the soiled dipper while widely reported was never shown.
I needed this today Gabes!
I'll have to read this book. I have been listening to a lot of Eckhart Tolle lately.....staying in the moment. I struggle with making MC my whole identity. I want to separate myself from that. It is difficult when you spend so much time in preparing foods and so on. This disease has definitely been my greatest teacher and brought me much closer to my inner being! Even if my ego insists on wearing a diaper
