Martha,

Americans should use olive oil from America. It pretty much eliminates the risk of not getting olive oil. I use one from California --pricey--but it is olive oil. It comes in a green bottle. It comes from California Olive Ranch. When done I use the green bottle for flowers. Regular grocery or health food store should have it.

Thank you Brandy! I'm still waiting for my bottles of oil to solidify!

I feel like writing the company! How can they write 100% olive oil on their bottle and sale it for 3 times the price of canola oil, crazy!

Are you sure that your fridge is at (or slightly below) 39 degrees?

I get olive oil from California Olive Ranch too. It is sold locally at my food coop (like a health food store). I too want to know I am getting the real stuff.

It was 38 degrees, never solidified. Going to order that one from California. That's so sad, you know I spent more money thinking hey it has to be good....my fault to believe product labels and the higher the price the better :mallet: :mallet:

I mean maybe it is real, but I'm going to assume it isn't for my health's sake....

Bummer. I agree though that even though that test might not always be 100 % reliable, it's not worth taking a chance on the oil.

Don't throw it away though, just in case the California oil won't pass the test either.

Over the years, most of us have had to throw away (or give away) a lot of food that we bought, thinking it was safe.

Thanks Tex. Luckily, my mom is like I use to be and can eat anything. She's been receiving my intolerant foods lately. Going to feed my husband and kids that expensive olive oil....
