Hi there. That is so interesting! Can your friend give any more information about that labeling system?

Did you all know about bread in the grocery store that has those plastic bad clips on it (in different colors) ? The different colors signify the freshness of the bread: if you look closer, they have dates on them.

And the foods that are at eye level one the shelf? those companies have paid more for the premium shelf placement, because people tend to buy things at eye level, I guess so they don't have to bend over.

My inlaw was a grocery store manager, and he says to always eat fresh foods over frozen because of the poor attention given to rotating things in the cases. And even then, he says that things we think are fresh foods are often held in warehouses weeks and weeks after picking from the fields, so that even things fresh in the produce section aren't necessarily "fresh".

Makes me want to garden again. I miss my potato garden. I love how you can steal a potato, and then cover the roots back up again. Yukon Gold, yum.
