Bacon

Post by Marcia K »

Hello, everyone. I eat a lot of turkey, including turkey bacon so I thought I would try pork bacon. I made sure it was uncured and nitrate free. As soon as I ate it my stomach didn't feel quite right and I repeated it for quite some time that morning. It didn't make me sick, but I decided I wasn't going to eat the rest and I froze it for my guys. This week we went to college to visit our son and we went out for breakfast to a waffle shop. Yay! How many choices are there for us at a waffle shop?! It came down to a fresh fruit plate with cottage cheese (which I would have skipped) or a side of bacon. I took a chance and went with the bacon....no reaction whatsoever. I found it odd that the uncured nitrate free bacon would affect me more than "regular" bacon made in a restaurant on a grill who with knows what, but that's what happened. Just another one of those ? moments. I did take a GlutenEase before I ate the bacon so I'm not sure if that made a difference or not. Regardless, I was just happy to be able to eat out with my son and enjoy the college atmosphere. The waffles did look awesome, they were covered in different fruit sauces with whipped cream. It was full when we were there and my son said the line is out the door on the weekend, as I can imagine.

Marcia

I was surprised that we could tolerate bacon in time .
I have been eating regular bacon off and on all summer.
Last week I did A trial and cut up some bacon fried it whipped some eggs and cooked in the bacon grease and felt just fine.

Hi, Terry. Yes, I was happy to find that I can eat it without a problem. I'm cautious about trying new things, but bacon is a go.

I started eating pork early on..........do well with bacon, sausage, ham, pork roast, etc...........I got sick and tired of chicken and needed something different.
