Plastic Microbeads Found in Sea Salt and in the Food Chain

Post by HappyBird »

For a long time I have known about the microscopic flakes of metal and coatings coming off cookware whilst we cook. This has been something I have taken care of as soon as I knew about it. In the good old days many of us used aluminium cooking pots - copper was the reserve of the wealthy. Stainless steel arrived on the scene in the early seventies when I bought my very first AMC Cookware made of stainless steel.

Years ago I was aware that our exfoliation products and toothpaste contained plastic microbeads and stopped buying the exfoliation products and used a loofa instead. Today I found this very interesting but disturbing article about the vast quantities of plastics and in particular, plastic microbeads, we ingest without realising. Its a bit sad that we can't trust our sea salt.
