Hot feeling!

Post by chellebelle »

Not the sexy kind, LOL.

Hi everyone! I wanted to thank everyone who has given me advice from this board, you have all helped greatly!

Now, to my hotness. I get this feeling in my tummy - rarely stomach level, usually an inch or two above the navel on down. The feeling starts out warm and proceeds to a heat that isn't a burning pain, isn't painful at all. I would compare it to the heat from eating mildly spicy food or ginger tea. So far, this feeling has been a warning of an impending flare every time. If I pay attention, it can predict it up to three days in advance.

I just wanted to share that to help people, as it's new for me (or maybe I never noticed it before?) and has been helpful for planning my life and meals.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! As an aside, I find it awesome so many traditional Thanksgiving foods are MC friendly with only a few little tweaks!

Thanks for sharing Chellebelle........

I have found I listen to my body signals and take them more seriously after my flare. Can't say I have noticed a hot feeling in the abdomen but will keep it in mind. I hadn't realised Thanksgiving food was MC friendly, we have very similar for Christmas so that's a positive note for me.

Hi there ,I occasionally get a hot feeling somewhere between naval and breast bone area . Not sure if it may be acid . Think I've read somewhere that it may be associated with IBS.

Up that high could be acid reflux, especially if it travels upward. Mine travels downward. When I was pregnant, the only time I've had acid reflux except for a recent few bouts from pepperoni (no more for me, sigh), and I drank peppermint tea, 2-4 cups a day to soothe it. Worked great. :)

Well, for most people turkey, sweet potatoes (well cooked), squash, mashed potatoes (no milk!) and a small amount of cranberries (does anyone eat a large amount? LOL) and some cooked veggies seem to be MC safe. So, some minor tweaks. There is usually stuff I can't eat, like pie and rolls, but someone who only needed gluten free could have those. It depends who is doing the cooking - if it's you or someone you trust, then you should be safe! :)

A little bit different than your hotness, but I've been looking forward to a cold chill this fall and it finally arrived the other day. It's hardly terribly chilly, but in S. Florida temps have dropped into the upper 50sF. As I suspected I do not feel as cold as I typically do when the weather turns cool. Often times I'd have long pants on with thermal wear underneath when it turns this cool. Since feeling better, the cold hasn't been effecting me as harshly as it typically does. I'm still wearing shorts! The gut is hanging in there also. Figures crossed this remains the case.

Fingers crossed for you, too!

I used to be freezing in the winter in Virginia Beach, LOL. My body temps would get down to 96.3 and my feet would be all purple gray like blocks of ice. Since I've thyroid treatment, I am like a whole new person! I can handle temps down to 63 in the house as long as I have a nice warm top on and slippers.

I think MC makes our coldness worse due to nutrient malabsorption.

Thank you! It is a wonderful feeling to be warm and toasty in cool weather for a change! I was a blue person also with blue fingers and toes. I used to have great difficulty functioning in the cold chill overall as it would effect my concentration. I've thought about thyroid problems, been tested, and even did a self temperature test but never did come up with anything conclusive or enough to press for medication. I remember reading in the past mention that thyroid problems cause food allergies. I've wondered if maybe that idea is backwards and that possibly food allergies can cause thyroid problems. Then again maybe my warm up could be used as more evidence of global warming.

Or maybe your warm up is causing global warming?!?!?!?!

I'm glad you're not blue anymore. That was always upsetting, to have dead looking feet. My fingernails would get blue. Well, the nail beds. Naturally blue nails would be kind of cool.

I think I have uncovered my newest trigger - White Willow Bark. I"ve been taking it for migraines along with Tylenol to avoid taking the migraine meds which have a combo of caffeine, aspirin and acetaminophen. It works for my head, though not as well as the conventional stuff, but it seems to be triggering MC just like the other meds. :(

Ah, yeah, well not so loud with that. With the soon to be Paris global warming summit I could find myself labeled a global threat. Then again I could submit the theory in for study, requesting a few hundred thousand dollars to find out if my warmer feel is contributing to global warming. Of course with how all to often studies are reported any results found would mention further studies required and more funds needed in order to come to a definitive conclusion. It could time a life time to discovery any answers.

Have a happy Thanksgiving! Avoid white willow bark. My sister gets debilitating migraine and I know she has had a tough time finding medications and supplements that provide reliable relief. She finds something that works for awhile, then for some mysterious reason it stops working and then it is onto the next.
