Slow Cooker
Hi,
Christmas is approaching, and I have been asked to set up a wish list.
I have no experience with Slow Cooker, and am curious about the advantages.
Are there important things one should consider before buying a slow cooker?
The prices for a slow cooker here in Norway start at approx USD 70.

Hi, Lilja. I have two slow cookers. One has high & low settings and the other has a timer on it. I use them both but it is nice to have a timer. It changes to "warm" after the programmed number of hours. Be sure to purchase one with a removable crock for washing. I work full time so my crockpot is a life saver! My son even has one at college. He doesn't eat the typical college fare and he uses his all of the time. I don't think I paid more than $30 for them, I always wait until they're on sale. Yesterday I ordered an Instapot on Amazon. All of the paleo people rave about it and it was a very good price. It has many functions (steamer, yogurt maker, etc.) so I'm looking forward to receiving it.

Hello Lilja..........
I bought a new slow cooker recently after my slow cooker dial cracked. After lots of research I decided on this Instant Pot programmable Electric Stainless steel lined. Its been fabulous and easy to use and best of all
ou can buy extra stainless liners, lids and the liners can go directly onto the stove if you want to use it as a pot in its own right. The Instant Pot has a saute feature so no need to brown meat on the stove first, the big Instant Pot is 6L which is fabulous but they make a smaller one too. Besides the slow cooker facility, Instant Pot also doubles as pressure cooker and a rice pot. All I can suggest is take a look at the features and decide. I am really very happy and use it daily.

Hi,
Thank you all!
I'm considering this Crock-Pot, the one to the right on the picture.
It is steady (doesn't slip on the bench), you can program it to start cooking in for instance 20 hours, takes 5,7 liters, and has a ceramic inside, easy to clean.

Now I'll have to start reading recipes

I use my crockpot all the time. Mine has high, low, warm settings..........switches to warm when the timer is done................
I cook my chicken bones for broth in it.......put it in and forget it.................make beef stew, and all kinds of other things..........I'd be totally lost without it.

Marcia & Deb............
The Instant Pot is fabulous, glad you both have one. They really are fantastically versatile, can't wait to make a lovely lamb stew and oxtail for my partner to try the pressure cooker feature. I love pickling and jam making and this Instant Pot doubles as a water bath to gently bring the pickles to under boiling point before sealing. Love the feature!
