Incidentally, am I the only one who considers it odd that the test results show a "red" reaction to gluten (gliadin), but no reaction to wheat? :headscratch:

No..........

I was in a hurry after spending a long time on the results post so didn't comment. I am puzzld about the gluten(gliadin) reaction but wheat not. I haven't eaten wheat, oats and a few other things for years and don't intend to go back to them ever.

There are some duscrepencies between the two sets of results so i have decided not to eat anything off both reaction lists and the borderline lists. There are enough things I can eat so I'm happy.

Since my flare and going dairy free I started drinking almond milk and having almond butter. From today I have started having rice milk and will try the cahew butter you suggested while back. I lost weight initially but gained a Kilo which may indicate some gut improvement and better absorption. I still have slightly dehydrated arms  Things have improved with my energy levels too - no longer taking a nap in the day. The collagen I think is working because my joints feel less painful. I'll keep going as I am and add to my diet carefully.

All in all - much happier than three months ago.

Jen,

Many of us take glucosamine/chondroitin tablets to preserve the cartilage/collagen in our joints, and protect it from wear. Flax seed oil also helps preserve joints. It's an old trick vets use to treat joint problems in horses and dogs, and it works just as well on most humans.

15 years ago my knees were so bad that I had to use a cane just to get around on some days. I threw the cane away a few months after I started using glucosamine sulfate and flax seed oil, and cutting gluten out of my diet. Today my knees are fine, despite advancing age.

Thanks Tex................

Glucosamine sulfate and Flax seed oil have to be my very next additions to my diet! It's a no brainer. Which brands do you use Tex, I'll try to get the same........and the dosage I need to find.

I know the glucosamine is a tablet but how do you take the oil and how much. I have flax seeds in the house but find them tricky to eat. Any and all suggestions welcome.

Some vets are very good and there is a cross over between human and veterinary medicine.
We have used homeopathic remedies prescribed for humans on our dogs and had some real success stories.

I use Finest Nutrition brand of Glucosamine/Chondroitin, triple strength. For about 10 years or more I used 2 tablets per day. This was during a period when I was doing a lot of heavy, repetitive lifting at work. Then after I semi-retired, I stopped using them. But after a few weeks, minor knee pain began to show up, so I resumed taking 1 tablet per day. I bought the last order on Amazon:

I use Nature's Bounty Flax Seed Oil, i capsule per day.

Ground flax seed might work, but ground flax seed hulls are a laxative — an old home remedy for constipation.

FWIW I also take fish oil from The Vitamin Shoppe (1 capsule per day), but not for joint health. I take it for the general health benefits and as an Alzheimer's/Parkinson's disease preventative. Research shows that Alzheimer's and age-related dementia are associated with drying out of the myelin sheaths that protect the nerves in the brain and CNS. If the myelin sheaths dry out, the nerves die. Alzheimer's patients tend to have low cholesterol, and low fatty acids in the brain and CNS. I use this brand because most of the others contain soy:

Thanks Tex.........

I have ordered and started the Omega double strengthand waiting to add the flaxseed oil in a few days.

I had a mini meltdown today - was very sleepy and just slept for hours. I now have low grade tummy ache which tells me I have eaten something I'm sensitive to. No D or anything! I have gone back to the very basic turkey, carrot, potato diet and will not have anything else till it all settles.

I was doing so well! I guess one just has to be vigilent at all times and not take chances. A visitor bought us these fabulous gluten free mince pies. I had one in Saturday - no reaction. Had one in Sunday and Monday morning I was not well.

Jen
the mince pies most probably come under 'sometimes food' small amount, once a week, the body can handle
any more than that, it will cause reactions. combo of the flour mix, the fibre of the dried fruit the spices are all troublesome ingredients when we are inflammed.

Thanks Gabes!

I haven't had another and its all fine again. ;-)

On Sunday we went out with our country pursuits coach for a few hours and it was then that I and everyone in the grouo realused how much I had improved physically. At the time I came off my Ketaprofen (NSAID), I on 1/9/15 I have had 2 x 15g of collagen in my black coffee. That's two cups of coffee each with 15g of collagen. My joints are much better now and I am managing very well without an anti-inflammatory. I believe the collagen is doing a great job.

I'm a HappyBird right now and hoping the New Year brings more positive changes and better health. Yay!

Having a bad time, fortunately not related to tummy issues.

on 5/12/15 I had a tooth crowned and was warned it might be sensitive. The sensitivity happened as predicted and I took paracetamol once or twice a day. The last week the pain is in a different place and my nose is running only out one nostril. I was put on anti-biotics and have an appointment with maxillo-facial specialist and a CT Scan to see whats going on.

The past week has been very trying.
