Genova Diagnostics

Post by DJ »

Is anyone familiar with the billing practices of Genova Diagnoatics? They have one price for people who pay by submitting a check or cash and another price for insured program called the Easy Pay Program. With the Easy Pay Program, you initially pay $99 and they bill your insurace, then they send you a bill for $2,499.00, which is multiples of the price charged for full payment by cash or check AND, this is not disclosed in the box of materials.
Heads up on that!!!
Has anyone had a similar experience? They have several complaints about this issue with the Better Business Bureau.

Yes, they charge one higher price to insurance, and a lesser price to patients directly, which is probably illegal or unethical, but nice for the self-pay patients. There is no way they should try to collect the full $2,400 from a patient who's insurance refused to pay. That would be crazy!! Luckily my Blue Cross PPO paid in full for my daughter and me.

Incidentally, their old method used to cost $699. But they took over Metametrix and tripled the price! Not cool!! My doctor didn't realize how much is was when all we needed was a simple re-check for my daughter's amoeba.
