Alldaychemists Bad news!
I just found out that after Christmas Alldaychemist, and all the chemists from India will no longer be able to sell to the US. They are in court right now, and if I understood the broad Indian accent correctly, the case will take a long time. Bloody government are trying to prevent us getting drugs cheaper from ANYWHERE including Canada. Dammit!
If you need anything get it now. I ordered enough LDN to get me through the next year.

I was thinking that would happen. In January the President's trip to India was in large part to lobby the Indian government to stop manufacturing and selling inexpensive medications to America and elsewhere in the world. Many top charity groups in the world protested greatly over the President's lobbying.
I just finished reading Marcia Angell's book too which can be seen at ~
"The Truth About the Drug Companies: How They Deceive Us and What to Do About It"
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FC ... ext&sr=1-1
She is a former editor at the New England Journal of Medicine. She went into detail on the selling of medications out of Canadian to Americans. I didn't know this but apparently most of the medications were made in America, shipped to Canada, but according to American health officials once the Canadian bottled medications crossed the boarder back into America once again magically the drugs could become dangerous for us to take. Troubling situation.

Since many of the drugs we take are made in India (because it is too expensive to make them here and Big Pharma's profit will be less) the situation is even more troubling. Most of these drugs cost pennies to make. When we are charged more because of the R&D I understand, however, the obscene profits made by the big drug companies need to be stopped.
That was one thing brought up by Marcia Angell. Often, as part of marketing by the pharmaceutical companies, is mention about the high cost of R&D for the development of new drugs. She mentions it is not true. The true costs are largely unknown she felt. There is one University that is often quoted, I believe it is Tufts, saying costs are in the billions but that information was provided by the drug companies without supporting information and the University had conflicts of interest.
Most new approved drugs are "Me Too" pharamceuticals or medications that are essentially the same as other drugs already on the market, with slight variations. She felt if as a country we wanted new and innovated drugs to be created it should be mandatory that before approval of a medication can occur, the medication should be tested against what is already on the market. If the new drug is better than what is on the market it should be approved. If it is the same or worse then the current drug(s) it should be turned down. Naturally pharmaceutical companies are against this idea.
At the time she wrote the book she felt there had only been 12 new innovated drugs created in the previous decade, with the rest being Me Too drugs. She was also up in arms over most new innovated drugs were created by government agencies using tax dollars. It is typically only toward the end of the drugs creation that pharmaceutical firms become involved, buying the rights cheaply. Overall she felt pharmaceutical companies were largely marketing companies, with the bulk of expenses used for sales and marketing, or in some cases bribery. Often those costs are listed under R&D. When a company is caught bribing it is typically penalized, sometimes by large amounts, but those costs are passed onto government, insurance firms, and patients. It is just a part of doing business.
What surprised me in the book too was how much pharmaceutical companies pay to the FDA legally. A large portion of the FDA's budget comes from direct payments the drug firms must give them for reviewing medications. It is essentially a situation were the policing agency is being payed by the companies they are to police. It isn't a healthy situation. I've seen also mention that the CDC makes money from different pharmaceuticals. I only mention as I saw on another web sight today a mention about the CDC pushing the sale of statin medications.

Anyway! It had me fired up after reading the book. I've been telling my family about it! Good luck with finding the medication or alternatives at a reasonable price in the future.

Lesley, are you sure about alldaychemist? There is nothing on their website, and I goggled all sorts of ways on the web and couldn't find any mention of this. I would think that it would be major news because lots of people order from them. And I would also think that if this is the case, they would be notifying all their customers to get in their orders right away, and I haven't gotten any email or phone call from them. Although it sounds like you got a call. Has anyone else heard from them about this?
