Hi all,

Did you know this about Melatonin?

Can be used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease - GERD.

Hi Lilia,

Hmmm this is certainly interesting. I have started using Magnesium lotion with Melatonin on my feet and inner thighs before bed. I notice significant improvement with burning stomach and generally overall bowel movements. 1 pump = 3 mg melatonin. I instinctively upped it to 2 pumps each night. If anyone has problems sleeping or relaxing before bed I strongly recommend trying this transdermal form. Its by ancient minerals and is called Goodnight. You can get off of amazon. Some people say long term melatonin is not good. I don't know if they think you become dependent or what. Seems pretty benign to me. Thanks for the article!

Mellie

this conversation is about medicine the same as Prevalite

as you will see by the discussion, it helped a few people, not all.
that is the sucky part of MC, what works for one, may not work for another
we have to do trial and error to figure out what works best for us the individual...

Thanks Gabes. It looks like this thing is most definitely trial and error. I am still in denial thinking I have a paddle but am "paddleless". i asked my gastro for a CT scan and/or MRI of my intestines to check for cancer or a tumor but he declined saying I had a diagnosis. I still want to have those done. One of my symptoms is I feel like I'm wired and I'm irritable and feel like hitting something but I don't have that feel good energy. My intestines sound like a tub draining sometimes and sometimes like one of those big water coolers when you get water from it. ( Too much info? )

Mellie
long term inflammation depletes Vit D3. There is loads of scientific evidence that link Vit D3 deficiency and anxiety/depression/mood issues.

Further, ongoing inflammation causes villi damage to the gut wall, which leads to Leaky gut. particles, toxins, etc etc that should be excreted in our poop, make it through the gut wall and end up in the blood stream. This contributes to inflammation elsewhere in the body, drains the adrenals and immune system. there is also quite a bit of published research about the gut brain link and unhealthy gut = unhealthy brain.

This is why we encourage the strict low inflammation, gut healing eating plan, question Vit D3 levels and encourage Vit D3 and magnesium supplementation

if there was cancer or tumour, there would be other symptoms and markers in blood tests etc.

These links will provide layperson explaination....

Those are hyperthyroid symptoms, so there may be a problem with your thyroid hormone replacement treatment. A magnesium deficiency can also cause those symptoms, and not only are most people deficient in magnesium, but IBDs deplete magnesium. So do antibiotics, and many other medications.

You are not the only member here who is receiving poor thyroid treatment from their doctor. Most endocrinologists apparently do not know how to properly treat hypothyroidism, especially after a thyroidectomy, and as a result, many patients suffer needlessly because of the incompetence of their doctor.

That's a very common symptom with MC. Most of us are very familiar with that sound. It will disappear after your gut begins to heal.

I'm so sad tonight. I had to cancel a trip my son and his family including my 1 year old grandson had planned for us. Breaks my heart but there is no way I can go like this. They don't live here so we don't get to see them much. The site here gives me hope that after much trial and error I may one day get some relief. Thank you for being here!

If you totally avoid the foods (and medications, supplements, etc.) that cause you to react, the inflammation will slowly fade away and your intestines will begin to heal. I'm sorry you missed that trip, and it does take a while to heal, but yes, someday you will be able to travel again, as long as you plan ahead and prepare so that you have safe food to eat at all times.

in line with your question to Tex about gut healing and to me about the eating plan

bland, low inflammation, gut healing eating plan;
- safe animal proteins well cooked
- well cooked safe veges. (at first no more than 3 different ones per meal)
- meals based on home made bone broth Soups, Stews, etc
- avoid major triggers, Gluten, Dairy, Alcohol, processed foods
- minimising sugar intake
- avoiding fibre
- Supplement with good quality Vit D3 and magnesium (cells need this to heal)
- avoid chemical sugar replacements
- minimise Lifestyle stresses, chemicals, pollution, pollen, physical, mental, emotional stress

avoiding spices, herbs, onions, garlic etc for the first stage.

did you read the thread that i provided the link to yesterday?
Have you read the posts aimed at new people?
another good discussion thread is the journey of Erica, who joined us 6 months or so ago.

http://www.perskyfarms.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=21173
we talk about bland eating plan in this thread and i provide some meal ideas ...
we also talk about the mental and emotional side of life with MC

I understand that you are deeply dissapointed about cancelling the trip to your son etc, albeit given how things are for you right now, in time i am pretty sure you will appreciate being able to stay home and focus on nurturing yourself and sorting out your MC management plan.
as you will see by reading erica's journey it is a bit overwhelming at first, but take it a day at a time, get some safe meals sorted, and once the meals are part of the routine, it is not so overwhelming... as the symptoms reduce and you start to get your life back, the worthiness of the changes and inputs reveals itself!
