Carol, happy to hear things are falling into place for you and your job is MC friendly. Thanks for the reminder about the supplements. I've added a few and they seem to be all good. The iron, in general, has been questionable but I am back to one pill a day. My ferritin is still low (25) so I don't want to stop taking it. It could all be coincidental too. It's interesting because the LDN seems to have helped my morning immediate urgency the past three days. That could also be coincidental but I'm hopeful. It has helped my sleep tremendously- I hope it doesn't wear off (if that's possible). I was waiting for the potential vivid dreams that some experience but so far it all just seems pretty black, which is ok with me.

Your mention of tocopherols made me look at some of my regular foods. Cinnamon Chex, which I eat often, has vit E (mixed tocopherols). Is that soy? If it is, why wouldn't they put that as an obvious ingredient? Soy has been my worst enemy so far. I love Chex....... Well not really but it's my only cereal. The GF Cheerios were problematic- must be the oats.

Deb,

Yes, the ingredient known as "mixed tocopherols" is often derived from soy, but that's not always the case. I tried to find out the source of the mixed tocopherols used in Chex cereals from General Mills back in September. But they gave me the same old song and dance, without revealing any worthwhile information. Please review my post in the thread at the following link (the third post from the top).

FYI....Cheerios

The other 'Soy' issue to keep in mind;

some manufacturers use what they class as 'no soy allergens' soy based products -

I react to these products...

Tex, they sure did use considerable text in order to not answer your question. Too bad they don't get it or don't care.

I suppose it us best for me to assume there is soy in it considering I am still pinpointing problematic foods. Sigh. At least it's a good reminder of what to watch for when reading labels. I generally don't get too excited over GF products because most have soy.

Soy is evil and in everything. Too bad you have to have a decoder ring to figure out all the soy AKAs.

Deb,

I'm continuing to eat Corn and Rice Chex, since I don't seem to be having any digestive issues. In a few months I intend to retest my soy antibody level to see which direction it is headed. I believe that will answer our question.

I can understand General Mills' reps clamming up in that exchange, because this happened right after the big scandal broke about the contaminated GF Cheerios. Your problem with GF Cheerios may have been because of that issue. (Or, like me and most others here, you may simply be sensitive to oats.) For General Mills, I'm guessing that GF products have been more trouble than they're worth to the company.

Speaking of decoder rings, a startup company is developing a pocket-size device that will supposedly scan for gluten in food. It may be on the market next year. :shock: Is technology cool or what?
The sensor relies on technology that can quickly detect food proteins, giving future users a lab-quality test that they can stick in their bags or pockets. "Our goal is make something that just looks really beautiful that you would be proud to take out at the dinner table. The size is probably half the size of an iPhone, a little bit thicker.

Deb - I know that this seems radical for many, but I avoid these kinds of problems by buying only single ingredient foods. Seems you've struggled so long it might be time for something radical. Of course it doesn't work for most supplements although you can still go for the brands with the least ingredients. Hope you get some relief.
