Hi all,
For some years now, I have been following a controversial «underground» nutriotional practicioner/Heilpraktiker in my home town. He believes in traditional nutrition only. His philosophy is that we should eat only meat from grassfed animals and wild animals, and drink only unpasteurized milk. Fruits and vegetables only in small portions, and always together with animal products.
The reason why people get sick nowadays, in his opinion, is because humans started to eat grains some 200 years ago, and because Louis Pasteur got a crazy idea of cooking cow’s milk.
According to his philosophy the lack of vitamin B12 alone, or in combination with the lack of other nutrients, results in a huge variety of what we today call autoimmune diseases, such as :
Diabetes 1 and 2, MS, ALS, CFS, fibromyalgia, neuropathie, shrinking of the brain, autism, ADHD, epilepsi, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, dyslecsia, blindness, deafness, depression, suicide, aggression, loss of gut- and bladder control, muscle atrophy, lack of sense of smell/taste/touch, numerous intestinal diseases, lowered stomach acid production, lack of nutritional absorbtion, heart disease, hypo- and hyper thyreosis, bad adrenal function/Addison’s, various forms of anemia, and several kinds of cancer etc.
All these, appearantly independent condtions and diagnoses, are all due to the lack of vitamin B12.
He doesn’t recognise gluten intolerance or casein intolerance. He means that if we eat raw meat and unpasteurized milk, we can tolerate it. It’s the pasteurization of the milk that makes us sick. But, he agrees that there is no way we can «treat» corn, in order to be able to digest it. Corn is not meant for human beings, and it has no nutriotional value.
According to him, this also means that both for the medical industry, for doctors and pshychiatrists, - the lack of vitamin B12 is a huge source of income.
I believe in his acknowledgement of how important B12 is for us. However, for people with MC who cannot feed themselves with all what nature has to offer, we have to depend on supplements. And, as for the cow’s milk? I can live without it, and I don’t know of any farmer who would dare to sell me unpasteurized milk in the year of 2015. That's how obedient we have become...
Oh, I forgot salt. Salt is important to us; but not the refined "table salt". Unrefined, unbleached sea salt is important for our heart and our digestion.

My sister would whole heartedly agree with you and the nutritional practitioner. She is a fan of B12. When ever I have complain of feeling fatigued and worn out around her I know the answer coming, taking vitamin B12 pronto. Could be worse I joke. I had a grandma who apparently was a fan of Kellogg as grandma's cure all was enemas. My sister seems pretty healthy so she is doing something right.
I tend to agree about autoimmune disease and diet. There was an American/Canadian dentist named Weston Price who is often mentioned in Paleo diet circles. He wrote a book about his observations of civilizations who's diet was in the process of being changed from a traditional diet of their homeland to a western diet. Hard to say for sure about his observations, other than the diet change seems to have had a poor effect on the native people he visited.

I have not seen the film yet, but also Dr. Jay Wortman documented Canadian Indians that returned to their traditional diet. When that happened many disease went into remission, such as diabetes.New Expanded 8th edition with new photos and text.
An epic study demonstrating the importance of whole food nutrition, and the degeneration and destruction that comes from a diet of processed foods.
For nearly 10 years, Weston Price and his wife traveled around the world in search of the secret to health. Instead of looking at people afflicted with disease symptoms, this highly-respected dentist and dental researcher chose to focus on healthy individuals, and challenged himself to understand how they achieved such amazing health. Dr. Price traveled to hundreds of cities in a total of 14 different countries in his search to find healthy people. He investigated some of the most remote areas in the world. He observed perfect dental arches, minimal tooth decay, high immunity to tuberculosis and overall excellent health in those groups of people who ate their indigenous foods. He found when these people were introduced to modernized foods, such as white flour, white sugar, refined vegetable oils and canned goods, signs of degeneration quickly became quite evident. Dental caries, deformed jaw structures, crooked teeth, arthritis and a low immunity to tuberculosis became rampant amongst them. Dr. Price documented this ancestral wisdom including hundreds of photos in his book, Nutrition and Physical Degeneration.

Oh, nearly forgot, since you are in Norway your nutritionalist might know of him - I forget his name but there was a movement begun in Germany around 100 years ago by a fellow that promoted walking barefoot. It was believed that wearing shoes, and the loss of contact with the earth, led to the development of some autoimmune diseases. I'm a fan of barefoot walking outdoors, also known as Earthing, as I believe it has helped improve my stomach issues and sore joints after exercise.

i think these days - with the research and learnings about methylation cycle
its not just about Vit B12 deficiency, it is the body having the right combo of nutrients/minerals to utilise the B12 properly in the body.
