Wish me Luck

Post by annie oakley »

 I am going to go Job hunting tomorrow. There's a job my BIL told me about, he works for the Railroad commission, and no one has applied for it all in the whole week it's been out there. I am going to deliver this application instead of mailing it. It's for a clerk/sec position.

I have been steaming my sinuses and they have been draining. Of course Norman has left the building...I am sure tho that is is temporary and Norman will come back home. Another cross your fingers thing. I really would like this job  but I know not to get my hope up over any job. But fingers crossed may help. I will also put it in my prayers tonight. ANyway...I have several places to put an application in. Sooooo,I will let youall know what happens. Love Oma

Hi Oma,.

I hope you land that job. I assume that's a state job, isn't it?

Norman will probably be back home after the antibiotics are gone.

 Good luck tomorrow.

Love,
Wayne

Oma,

RR Commission is pretty powerful in Texas, ya know. They do more than just RR bidness! Ha! Isn't that where the " One Tough Gramma" got started? Guess Wayne, Oma, and I are the only ones who know who that is, right?

Anyway, I hope they're smart enough to hire a smart lady like yourself.

Yours, Luce

 Seems to me I may have seen a video clip of "Grandma". If it's the same one, she was something.

Hi Shirley,

"One Tough Grandma", is what Carole Keeton Strayhorn calls herself. She's currently the State Comptroller, and is campaigning for the Governor's office.

She was the first woman elected to the Railroad Commission of Texas. Her last name was Rylander, at the time. The RR Commission regulates not only railroads, but interstate, and intrastate commerce in general, including all trucking. It is also in charge of things like regulation of oil and gas production in Texas. Prior to Ms Rylander's election, the RR Commission was sort of a "good ol' boys club", so to speak. A very powerful, "good-ol'boys" club.

Love,
Wayne

Hi there, Brenda,

Didn't know you were lerking around these parts lately or I would've included you.
Yep Grannie's going to run as an independent this time -- another wrestler of sorts! Ha!

Hi Luce,

Independant is the way to go! Look at Vermont's senator and rep...only two independants in Congress! And we only have 3 delagates in Washington!

Katy

PS: Good luck on the job hunting Oma.

Katy,

Thanks for that bit of current events. That is really interesting. I've always wanted to visit your home state, particularly since I have a couple of cousins who have lived there quite a while. At least one of em is an engineer, and maybe both of them. There were four brothers, and several graduated from Perdue. Do they have a pretty good engineering dept there? I would think so.

One of those four brothers lived in Michigan, and I think he's the one who was the second one to move to Vt. Another lives in NY, and the last one, just outside of Indianapolis.

Also, I need to get to New England to see where my ancestors lived, and that would be really close to those places. It will be a long, long time before I get there, I'm sure, so hope I live long enough. Today, I was beginning to wonder if I'd make it through today. Ha!

Yours, Luce
