I choose not to go out to eat but I know many people here do eat in restaurants. Last night I was talking with my son's partner who manages the bar at an upscale restaurant here in town. She told me that both the chef and the wait people really appreciate it if someone gives them a list of their ingredient requirements before even coming to the restaurant. The chef will then come up with something that satisfies their particular needs and the wait person will not feel overly taxed with a long list of dos and don'ts. I didn't ask, but it seems likely, that this would work best in a restaurant that takes reservations. Thought I would pass it on.

Jean thanks for posting it is good advice and I don't eat out much myself but when I must go for holiday party or
other occassion, I will do my homework and talk to the chef and ask if there is a way to be accomodated with the least amount of
problems for the chef staff and they always appreciate my call and will help any way they can to make the experience a pleasant one for me to be comfortable and hope I spread the word and become a repeat customer.

The one thing that I have found post MC that my taste buds have changed and having foods without seasonings and sauces is
not a weird thing anymore and I like the food so much.. yep, ordering on the spot in a restaurant I do the plain protien no sauce no seasoning and it does work most times, always exceptions aren't there , Once I ordered poached cod fish with a side of steamed rice when the waiter said this is our gluten free offer, but first of all when it arrived it was cold, and there was water left on the plate from the fish, so unappealing. I made a note to myself, no more poached fish from this establishment, I would rather have eaten leather it would have tasted the same Ha! However for a special occasion it is so much nicer to have a chef really take the time to make something look and taste wonderful for your palate and eyes as well.. I have had some pretty tasty meals when the chef knows ahead what to serve and how to present it. Happy Holidays and may you eat something special that appeals to your eyes and your senses that just brightens your day in a restaurant or at home.
