Milk
Hello all, I've been using lactofee milk , however my nutritionalist says it's still no good as it's still cows milk. The other alternatives I've noticed are soya milk, almond milk and coconut milk. Do any of you out there have any thoughts as to the alternatives? Thanks Jim
Hi Jim,
Your nutritionist is correct. It's not the lactose in milk that causes the inflammation in our intestines — it's the casein, and all dairy products contain casein.
Try almond milk or coconut, because most of us react to soy.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

hi there Jim
nutritionist is correct - cows milk is highly inflammatory to majority of adults (worse for those with gut issues)
milk wise - depends what you are using milk for and what you have available.
Uses
- when I gave up milk I adjusted my much loved Latte coffee to half strength long black. There was no milk alternative that worked with my coffee so I learnt to drink black coffee.
- some of the milk alternatives have a stronger flavour and can take a while to get used to
In Australia, there is no coconut milk that is soy free so I can not use coconut milk.
cost, readily available, flavour etc I use organic Rice milk and coconut water in my protein shakes and this is the only thing I use milk for
