My New Year's Resolutions

Post by tex »

Hi All,

Since the board seems to be rather quiet today, I thought it might be a good time to reflect on the most important issues that I will be dealing with during this brand new year, namely — my New Year's Resolutions for 2016.

In 2016 I resolve to:

1. Continue (as I have done most of my life) to ignore the diet recommendations implied by the USDA Food Pyramid, ChooseMyPlate, or any other pretentious government-backed diet recommendations virtually guaranteed to jeopardize my long-term health.

2. Continue (as I have done most of my life) to eat lots of bacon for breakfast, and sausage and hot dogs, despite the overblown claim by the World Health Organization (WHO) that they can cause cancer. Hell — anything can cause cancer under the right conditions.

3. Continue (as I have done most of my life) to ignore misguided medical advice about cholesterol, and eat at least a couple of eggs for breakfast most days.

4. Continue (as I have done most of my life) to ignore the misguided "expert" advice about salt, and use the appropriate amount of salt on my food so that it tastes just exactly the way I like it.

5. Continue (as I have done most of my life) to base my diet on the so-called "red meats", despite unsubstantiated claims by the WHO that red meats such as beef, pork, veal and lamb are "probably carcinogenic". Probably? What kind of science is that? Must be something new — I don't remember learning about "probable" science back when I was in school.

6. Continue (as I have done most of my life) to ignore misguided government and medical advice that I should avoid fat in my diet, and instead make sure that there is plenty of fat in my diet so that it tastes great, and keeps me healthy.

7. Continue (as I have done most of my life) to avoid jogging, running, or similar activities where statistics show that at least 70 % of participants end up with knee or other joint injuries.

And now that I have posted all these ambitious resolutions, that should make it easier for me to follow them. In fact, I have no doubt that I will be able to honor every one of them, all year long (just as I have always done).

Here's to a happy and healthy 2016, despite all the attempts by the so-called "experts" to ruin our enjoyment of life and our long-term health.

Hi Tex

Your resolutions are right up my alley!

Now that I know more about my Gene Expressions due to the 23andMe reporting I am now understanding more about how my body processes things and I am now able to adjust my supplementation based on my Genes instead of guessing, which makes me happier now.

MC just stirs the pot when it comes to this years resolutions. So based on my new diet I am hopeful that the new process of adding in Ornithine, VitE, Molybdenum, (All the B's - B-Right), and Zinc along with the beginning healing of Elemental Magnesium and VitD3 this new year ought to show even more healing, so Bring It On!

Here's to more learning and healing for everyone in 2016 :newyearconfetti:

Tex,

I now have visions of sausage and bologna hanging everywhere in your homes rafters! A great grandfather would enjoy your New Years resolution. He was a butcher that lived strong and healthy to the ripe old age of 92, loved by many.

Health wise I kept mine sweet and simple, to get the gut and health overall well once and for all. Off to a terrible start with that, possibly. I was quite ill yesterday, which is a rarity these days. I know what went wrong though. I ate to much fiber. To my delight typically when sick such as that, I'll be wiped out, exhausted the next day, good for little. That wasn't the case. My energy levels were good. So hopes are up with maybe I'm heading in the correct direction as the resolution made.

Tex,

I liked your New Year's resolutions.

Yesterday I made bone broth. Unlike what I usually do, I removed the fat layer that covered the broth once it got cold. I don't know why I did it!!

Result? The broth tasted just like water. All that work for nothing; beautiful marrow bones, ox tale bones...

"The taste lies in the fat", that's for sure.

That sounds like a good plan Tex. I will have to continue to jog and or run though. Moderately of course, no more half marathons for this old lassie. It's a habit for me, kinda like breathing. I always have yoga after my first knee replacement  Although with diet, Vit D, and Mag my knees actually don't creek like they did in my 20's!

Vanessa,

If I were in your running shoes I would be taking glucosamine with chondroitin to prevent the cartilage in my joints from wearing out because of the repetitive impact loading.

I used to do a lot of repetitive lifting/stacking of 50 lb bags of corn as part of my daily work routine, and I'm pretty sure that the glucosamine is the reason why my knee and hip joints are still problem-free.

Hi,

We call it "New Year Promises", i.e. promises we make to ourselves.

Since I retired I'm not as well organized as I used to be. There are no deadlines anymore, there are no consequences if they are left undone.

I promise not to scatter my activities all over, and to finish them without interruption.

If I can't finish them, I shall not start them.

And, of course I shall continue to eat according to my plan, so that life will not be a struggle.

Loved these resolutions Tex! I'm happy to say that my resolution is to gain weight, even if it means to eat a whole bag of gf chips or bacon daily....

Martha, I just wanted to mention that my daughter thought she was developing an allergy to shrimp and crab and she was very upset. Her hands itched when she peeled them and she sometimes got bumps in her mouth. It turns out it was the preservatives on them. She buys preservative-free seafood now and she has had no further issues.

Thank you Deb, will keep that in mind. I go a week from Monday for an oral challenge. I dread it, they will give me small bites over a period of 4 or 5 hours. I'm sure the histamines will really bother me. I'm so hoping for good results! My blood work showed no allergy but skin test did.
