Hi everyone! Its been awhile since I logged on (not on purpose, just busy) and I wanted to report how I was doing. I was on Budesonide 3mg for 1 year and then started weaning slowly to every other day for a few weeks, then every two days for a few weeks etc. I have not been taking anything for 2 months now and no problems at all. My diet (new diet as of diagnoses 2 yrs ago) will never change and I think that is what is important for people to remember it has to be the new norm. I am totally grain free, dairy free, soy free and can honestly say I feel great all around. For Tex, I purchased your book for my Naturopath (he is the head of the Sibo center here in Portland, OR) and he learned so much and really appreciated your insight on things and said you were pretty spot on. I explained to him from what I learned here on the sight that the longer you are on the Budesonide and the longer you take to wean off will give better results and I am living proof of that. Again the diet can never change. I will keep coming on line to read and I just want you all to know this site, your insight and all your words of encourgement and what worked for you helped me greatly! God Bless You All!
Thank you!
Jan

Hi Jan,
Thank you for posting an update. It's great to see that you are doing so well.
And thank you for the kind words. It's encouraging that you have found an open-minded doctor who is willing to actually listen to what his patients have to say. Now that you understand how to control MC you should be able to keep your symptoms under control forever.
Thank you for sharing an inspiring update.

Frustrated. Tired of living from bathroom to bathroom
Hi. I was D free for @10 years then bronchial infection and anti biotics...... There is where my problem began. I have had D for 8 months . Trying to go gluten free, no fresh fruit, dairy, raw veggies, or salad. Really struggling to figure out what to eat. I know I'm not doing anything right. I guess I need to be more serious on getting better. What worked for me last time is not this time. Very frustrated
Hi,
Welcome to our Internet family. I'm sorry that you're having a relapse. Many antibiotics can be very tough on MC patients. Dealing with this disease can be mighty tricky at times. Have you looked at the Diet Guidelines that can be downloaded from the Microscopic Colitis Foundation website? Some of the suggestion in those guidelines may give you some ideas on diet changes you can make that may help to get you back to remission. Here's a link to the download page:
http://www.microscopiccolitisfoundation ... loads.html
And if you have any questions after reading those guidelines, please don't hesitate to post your questions here. We'll try to help in any way we can. Some of us develop additional food sensitivities under certain conditions, so that could be why your diet changes are not bringing remission. And traces in our diet of gluten or other food sensitivities (such as dairy or soy) can prevent remission, also. I recently became sensitive to soy after years of remission. My soy antibody test was negative roughly 10 years ago.
Again, welcome aboard, and please feel free to ask anything.
