Salmon
In my former life I ate tuna several times a week. It was easy to grab a pouch to eat for lunch at work. Tuna was a 3+ on my EnteroLab results so I stopped eating it but I didn't have a problem with salmon. A while back I had a reaction twice after eating canned salmon. It didn't dawn on me right away, but my earlobe turned bright red & itchy after eating the salmon. I stopped eating it until I read a post on a site where someone said that it's sometimes the preservatives causing the reaction rather than the food. I decided to try the wild Alaskan salmon that I purchased at Costco and still had in my freezer. No reaction now twice. As I thought about it, I had been eating salmon in a pouch but then I saw the canned salmon on sale so I bought some. I still have some in the pouch that I'm going to try next to see what happens. I eat so much turkey in different forms, I am thrilled to be able to eat salmon again.

Yay for you! I've eaten enough turkey, potatoes, and rice for my lifetime....
I am still on a roller coaster at 6 months. I'll do good for a week, then decide to do something just slightly different and wham 3 or 4 days of misery. It's very slight too! I'm very hopeful though, I did add a vegan protein shake with hemp milk. I thought I was drinking a milkshake! I couldn't drink any kind of milk 2 months ago, so yah for me!
Goodluck with your salmon!!!

Thanks, Martha and Tex. I'm hoping I can take salmon in the pouch along to FL in May when we go on vacation. I'm already thinking about what I'll be able to eat while we're there. Martha, how soon did you have issues after you took the Clindamycin? I took it after a root canal but my LC symptoms didn't start until a few years later but I've wondered if it contributed to the LC. The really sad thing is that it didn't help with the issue that I had with the root canal.

The day after I took my last pill . My husband was diagnosed with cancer within the same month, so everyone kept telling me it was stress. I knew it was the pill, course stress caused me to not recover from it. I believe prob depleted my vitamins. Tested for everything, then diagnosed with IBS for 6 years. But I believe it wasn't until about a year and a half ago the colitis developed. Prior to that my cramps and D were tolerable. I stopped my last salad in Oct 2014 .

Gee I just read the side effects of that antibiotic 'clindamycin' and it is quite scary. It was a broad spectrum antibiotic that took me on this journey that I didn't want to go on. If only we had known then what we know now! Still we just have to go forward and chalk it up to life experience and try to heal as best as we know how. I am grateful for this website. If it wasn't for the Internet I would feel so alone and isolated with all of this.

Hi, Martha. Stress was a big factor for me, too. I had a preview of my symptoms after the 2 day orientation at my son's college in June 2013. I was fine again until August when the D started in full force the week he was leaving. He's my only child and while I had no idea how stressful his going to college was for me, my body told me otherwise. Linda, if only we knew what the antibiotics would do to our bodies....I tell myself that things happen for a reason and we can't go back and change things, we can only deal with the hand that we've been dealt (as much as that stinks sometimes!) Lilja, I try to stay away from farmed fish but I'm guessing that's what the canned salmon is. The salmon I buy at Costco is wild Alaskan so I don't think it contains any soy. Live and learn. Do you remember when you ate without thinking about it? It's hard to remember there ever was such a time!

Marcia, I can't imagine the stress of a child going to college. Oh I dread that day! I retired early (after a long education, lol) to devote my time and life to raising my 3 kids. That will be a stressful day indeed! I believe the same thing about things happen for a reason, I just pray that something positive will come out of this!
Yes Linda, that antibiotic is awful and sadly that's the only one I'm not allergic to. When a Dr prescribes one to me or my children, I ask if I'll die if I don't take it, lol......
